Should you be elected, what are three specific areas you’d like to change, address, improve or further research, and how specifically would you go about it?:
1) County Budgeting and Operations2) Improved Economic Development Planning3) Communication and Cooperation with local officials and communities
Implement zero based budgeting every ten years to allow a top to bottom review of the overall county budget and operations. Look for ways to streamline and consolidate county functions and operations to create more efficiencies and cost-savings.
Economic development has been on “cruise control” at the county level for far too long – this must become THE top priority of the Board of Commissioners.
The county commissioners have a very poor recent history of not communicating with local officials on matters of budget, infrastructure and cooperation. As county commissioner, I will make sure there is a continuous dialogue of ideas and input from local government officials and community leaders and end the top down dictating from the “Ivory Tower.”
Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, why should voters elect you?
Lake County needs new, proven, leadership. I am currently in my ninth year as a Concord Township Trustee. During my time as a trustee we have faced many challenges as Concord grows. I am proud to say we have met those challenges and set Concord on a path to continued prosperity. I believe strongly in fiduciary responsibility and as such, Concord has managed to grow our budget surplus to almost $7 million during these economically challenging times. How? Two words: conservative budgeting. That means, spend less than what you bring in. Save for big purchases. Never spend beyond our mission – truly keeping government limited. It is the same focus I will bring as county commissioner.
My focus has always been and will always be:
• Award-winning economic development• Conservative budgeting• Lowering our tax burden• Building a better future for Lake County
