December 11 9:30 am

Fellowship Hall

Nursery News: in addition to normal hours, the nursery will be staffed each Advent Wednesday at 6 pm thru worship and on Christmas Eve at the 5 pm & 7 pm services.

Confirmation

We will have confirmation class on December 11 at

1:15 PM and learn about David, the Kings & Prophets.

Following, we will travel to the

Folgmann’s for our annual

Christmas party. Please bring

a $10-15 Dirty Santa gift to

exchange. Parents may pick

up their angels from the

Folgmann’s by 6:00 PM.

In addition to attending class, confirmands are asked to attend

Sunday School on a regular basis; attend worship and complete

worship summaries; as well as participate in service projects

throughout the year….

This Year’s Chrismon:

the Latin Cross with Alpha & Omega

The Latin Cross, with its long upright,

is the most widely used form of the

cross among Christians. The Alpha and Omega, the first

and last letters of the Greek alphabet are used to show

that only God is before and after all things and is a

symbol of Divinity. (Revelation 22:13) The ladies of the church have made Chrismons for each child ages

birth through college. They will be available during SS or from

Traci Billman.

Sunday School Update:

This school year’s offerings will go towards Kids to

Love, so far $260 has been raised. This month, our

schedule is varied - on December 4, due to the

congregational meeting, kiddos will meet whole group

in the chapel. Lessons will resume as normal on

December 11. On December 18, Sunday School will be

at 9:15 am and do a final run-thru of the Christmas play

(before performing at the 10:30 am Unity Service.)

There will be NO Sunday School offered on

December 25 or January 1 for any age.

Friends, Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the lane, snow is glistening. It’s a beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight, walking in a winter wonderland. Okay, so maybe its just leaves instead of snow - you’ve got to have precipitation for that - and the bells I hear are not from a sleigh but the carillon. BUT.. you get the idea. Advent and soon Christmas are upon us! So that means parties and presents (preceded by shopping), programs and carols, cold weather and endless Christmas music on the radio. Good or bad, the season always makes our hearts feel a little more, give a little more, tolerate a little more (hopefully). I wish everyone a heart-full of the very best blessings this year - love and enjoy each other. Merry Christmas!!

Time to start thinking about what talent you would like to share

for the 2017 Variety Show on February 25. We will have

a sign up in Communication Central - please put your name and

what talent you’d like to share. Unsure what you’d like to do

but want to participate? Talk to Traci Billman for ideas and

more information.

Thanks to everyone who

donated items for the

Thanksgiving Drive—you gave

in abundance!! We easily completed 100 meals

to give to those in need (and had a lot left over

to help stock the pantry!!

Give To Families In Need

Again this Christmas, St. Mark’s is

blessed to give several families a

merrier holiday. Much like the ‘Angel

Tree’, you are invited to sponsor a

child by taking their wish card – from

the display in the narthex – fill the

request, wrap and label the gift, and

return it to the church for distribution

by December 14.

Mitten Tree

Though “mitten” doesn’t do it justice;

it is also a hat, scarf, and new/gently-

used coat tree.

Help us keep some kiddos warm

this year by decorating our tree in

the narthex area. All donations to the

tree must be brought in by December 14.

If you know or are someone who needs assistance

with Christmas purchases this year, please let Traci

Billman know ASAP and we will work to provide

whatever we can.
