Jesus commissions his disciples to bring the good news that God is on the side of the poor, the sick, the outcasts, and all those who suffer injustice. Pope Francis is calling us today to obey the Lord’s command given 2,000 years ago. We are to work out together how to share the Good News. We can-not bury or hoard the gift we have been given, be-

cause everyone needs to hear the good news that they are loved. We are to be ‘the good news in the present tense’. Each of us is called into the ministry

of Jesus in some way. We are called to be 'other Christs', to be people who wish to make known and spread the love of God and his care for his people in the world. We may never know how much we have done this; it is sufficient that we do what we can. God has some work to do that can be done only through each person. In a time of prayer we ask that we use our gifts and talents as best we can in God's service. God is determined to bring us all into the final community of love which is gathering day by day. So, Lord, let us listen to you as you say ‘Go!’ and let us find creative ways to be good news to those around us.
