CHRIST THE GOOD SHEPHERD PARISH SAGINAW, MICHIGAN
Happy Labor Day Weekend! We celebrate the fruits of our la-bor and give God thanks for the good harvest season. It marks the end of summer vacation for just about all school students in the country, although some schools have been in session for a couple weeks already. We will have a
special blessing of students, teachers, parents and back packs next Sunday at the 10:00 a.m. Mass. This has been a busy summer for me in my travels. I was glad to spend a few days up North in the Trav-erse City area recently. I got a chance to go on a cou-ple boat tours of Elk Lake, Torch Lake and Suttons Bay.
I did a lot of resting and looking out over the water. It felt good. I shared one of the boat rides with Sr. Cor-rine Weiss. We were guests of people from St. Fran-cis Parish in Traverse City. I hope you all had a chance to get away this sum-mer to travel, see the sites, visit family and friends or just get away and relax. It’s a gift.
Peace, Fr. Ron
P.S. Perhaps I’ll see you at the Mama Ruth Picnic to-day.

Catechism Question of the Week Why does the Church also make declarations about ethical questions and about matters of professional conduct? Believing is a path. One learns how to stay on this path, in other words, how to act rightly to lead a good life, only following the instructions in the Gos-pel. The teaching authority of the Church must re-mind people also about the demands of the natural moral law.

“Every worthwhile gift, every genuine benefit, comes from above, “ says St. James in the second reading. But, he reminds us, true worship of God involves using those good gifts to benefit the less fortunate. Good stewardship is not optional; it is the hallmark of our faith!
