There are many mysteries in our Catholic faith. This weekend we celebrate one of the greatest mysteries: the Holy Trinity. It is hard to under-stand how God can be 3 individual and distinct persons and yet still substantially 1 God, however, the human experience of our family can help to shed some light on how this is possible. In the Holy Trinity there are 3 persons. There is one who loves (Father). There is one who is

loved (Son). The Son returns this love to the Father and the love that they share is so strong that it creates another being (Holy Spirit). Likewise, in a family, we see this same reality. We have one who loves (husband); one who is loved (wife). The wife returns the love to her husband and the love that they share is so strong that it creates another person (their child). Anyone who has had a child knows it is a pretty amazing miracle, but it is a miracle due to the profound love of hus-band and wife. In this way, the family is an image of the Holy Trinity. The fami-ly is a reflection of God in their life and love. We would say that each person in a family is a unique person; however, it is

still one family. Similarly, each person of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy

Spirit) is an individual person; however, it is still one God. Through our love and

family, may we be living witnesses to the beauty of the Holy Trinity and His di-

vine love in the world.

In Christ Our Hope,

Father Kyle

ORDINATION OF PRIESTS AND DEACONS Keep in your prayers the 5 men who were ordained as deacons this weekend and the men being ordained priests. They were ordained by the Most Reverend Mi-chael O. Jackels, Archbishop of Dubuque, at the Cathedral of St. Raphael, 231 Bluff St., Dubuque.

Jacob Rouse was ordained a priest of Jesus Christ on May 26, at

10:30 at St. Raphael Cathedral in Dubuque. Jacob was a seminari-

an with us a few years ago and greatly appreciated his time at

Christ Our Hope Cluster. He would like to extend an invitation to

his First Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, May 27, at 2:00 at St.

Patrick Church in Cedar Rapids. Please pray for more great

vocations like Jacob!

I am very pleased to announce that next weekend we will be graced by the presence of newly ordained Deacon

Jim Goerend who will serve as deacon at the 8:30 and 10:30 Masses in the Cluster. Deacon Jim is originally

from St. Lucas and is the son of Rose Marie and the late Edmund Goerend. Deacon Jim will be

ordained a priest for the Archdiocese in May of 2019. Pray for more priests!

I have been very impressed by the generosity of parishioners who have remembered their parish in their last will and testament. This is a great sign of faith and gratitude by life-long parishioners. These gifts are a blessing and continue to aid the Church's work. Please consider your parish when you are preparing your estate plan. Discuss with your legal or tax adviser options in your estate planning and how to make your parish part of your legacy. Remember God's generosity cannot be out-done. In Christ our Hope, Fr. Kyle

TRINITY CATHOLIC SCHOOL DEACON JIM ZAJICEK, PRINCIPAL 563-569-8556

[email protected] or trinitycs.pvt.k12.ia.us Trinity Catholic School is very happy to announce

the hiring of Mr. Jerry Brown as the new principal at Trinity Catholic School. He is originally from the Ionia area and at one time was a guidance counselor in the New Hampton school district. Mr. Brown has retired from administration in the public school system at Howard-Winn. Having served as principal in Ridgeway and most recently at Fort Dodge. He has also served as principal at St. Athanasius School in Jesup a number of years ago. We welcome Jerry back to the Archdi-ocese and to the Trinity Catholic School.

PRAISE THE HOLY TRINITY Some truths, like the very existence of God, can be known by human reason alone. Other truths, like the fact that God is One in Three Persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-can only be known if God reveals them to us. We could never conclude on our own that God is a Trinity. Today’s Feast is not only an opportunity for thanking God for tell-

ing us more about himself. It is an occasion to take courage as we strive for deeper unity within the human family. God re-veals himself to us in order to make us more like himself-not just as individuals, but as families, nations, and an international community. We grow in unity as we give ourselves away to one another, just as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit give them-selves to each other completely. Priests for Life
