Redlands College PERFORMANCE MUSIC

Performance Music offers individual tuition with experienced professional tutors, available to students across all years. Tutors invoice parents directly at the beginning of each term based on the Music Teachers Association rates. Lessons are 30 minutes (or 20 minutes for young beginners). Junior School students have the same lesson time each week whereas Middle and Senior School students have rotating lesson times to avoid missing the same class each week. Priority for lessons outside class times is given to Senior students.

PERFORMANCE MUSIC AT REDLANDS COLLEGERedlands College Performance Music program, serves the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools. The program incorporates instrumental and vocal tuition, and instrumental and choral ensembles.

Performance Music at Redlands College aims to nurture and foster in students the love of their instrument and of making music, by providing a caring and supportive environment that respects the College’s Christian ethos and values.

INSTRUMENTAL AND CHORAL ENSEMBLESThe College’s choral and instrumental ensembles rehearse weekly, and perform at College events, in Eisteddfodau, and at external public venues. In their weekly rehearsals, students are not only rehearsing performance pieces, but they are also acquiring foundational instruction in musicianship, musical literacy and ensemble skills.

Through their ensemble commitment, students are learning to create music together and enjoy their music-making. They are also learning the life skills of understanding their personal responsibilities and the value of commitment, reliability, and teamwork.

Parental support of the students’ ensemble activities is essential, not only in helping their child to consistently attend their weekly rehearsals and their performance events, but also in helping them to establish and maintain a consistent home practice routine as part of their instrumental or voice studies.

Students joining INSTRUMENTAL ensembles must ALSO be enrolled in private instrumental lessons (either through the College’s tuition program, or with an external instrumental teacher).

No fees apply for membership of Redlands College ensembles.

Ensemble Agreements, Calendar of Events, Information about Performance Music Uniform and Ensemble rehearsal times are all available on the College website https://www.redlands.qld.edu.au/our-opportunities/performance-music/
