Emerging Technology
Tools
Throughout the years technology has enhanced more and more. As the years go
by its seems like we are putting more technology tools into our K-12 classrooms.
These tools can be great assets to the classroom. They can benefit not only the teachers, but the students as well. The
following technology tools are emerging into our K-12 school systems today.
CB5000The CB5000 is a breakthrough product that simplifies classroom monitoring and control. It is designed and priced specifically for K-12 classrooms. It is a fully-integrated small room A/V device controller that delivers high-end tool management. Teachers can use the intuitive touch-screen controller to incorporate information from multiple A/V tools into the classroom discussion along with other media inputs. The advanced features and network control, addresses the control and interface requirements of teachers, IT directors, administrators and system integrators. This is a great technology device for teachers because it also consists of little or no training.
A realistic and affordable solution for the K-12 environment, the CB500 offers the benefits of higher-end systems without the high price. The CB-5000 Touch Controller has a starting price of $599.
MemoryMate• Is an intelligent organization system for students with learning disabilities• Replaces the usual accordion folder and adds a system of reminders instead• Students are reminded of each subject and assignment that is due through the MemoryMate• The concept upgrades a system of folders and binders with digital technology•This saves teachers time from administrative duties and letting them focus on true instruction
•With MemoryMate, students receive files wirelessly via the teacher's computer. MemoryMate allows teachers to easily customize assignments based on individual student needs
MDG Flip Tablet NetbookA single netbook would be about
$600.00. A class set of laptops would cost about a total of $21,000, but this wouldn’t include a docking station for
easy recharging.
The MDG Flip Tablet Netbook is the world's first tablet netbook that operates in dual mode for students, tablet mode,
and traditional laptop mode. Students no longer have to worry about losing their
notes because there’s a digital copy online that they can sync up with and retrieve. It is lighter than most textbooks, and smaller than a regular piece of paper. The display
monitor rotates, so that you can fold it back onto itself and write on the screen while the laptop is closed. It is also spill
resistant, has a webcam, and it is easier to do math assignments on because you can draw math equations and diagrams that
you can’t easily type.
Smart Desks
Smart Desks are new desks where a multi-touch surface will be the central component. The
desks will be networked and linked to a main smartboard which will offer new opportunities
for teaching and collaboration. A single Smart Desk can operate as a set of
individual work spaces, or a large screen that will allow students to cooperate on a task at
hand. Students will be able to work together at a desk, as the desks allow simultaneous screen contact by multiple users using fingers or pens.
The aim of Smart Desks is to transform teaching, learning and help to improve outcomes through shared ideas, more
exciting lessons… and to engage 'hard to reach' learners, with special needs support, more motivating ways of learning, and more
choice about how and where to learn.
