What is Twestival?

• A Twestival (Twitter + Festival) is an evening event that started in London back in September 2008 so that the online Twitter community could meet the faces behind the avatars and do some good for a social cause. After the huge success of this, the idea of hosting simultaneous Twestival events around the world was quietly brewing…

• The first Twestival Global was launched with a tweet on 8 January 2009 and barely a month later on 12 February, there were 202 cities around the world hosting events to benefit charity: water.

Twestival In IndiaSeven Indian cities participated in the first Twestival Global event raising an amount of $168 in support of the global charity:water.

Twestival Global 2010

• Our efforts this year is for Education, with a focus on children in the poorest parts of the world.

• Twestival Global 2010 will be held across the world in support of Concern Worldwide on March 25th, 2010.

• Concern's education programs target the poorest people in the poorest countries in the world.

• Their education programs reach over 700,000 people in 25 countries across the regions of Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean.

Chennai Twestial• A barathanatiyam dance-drama show will be put

up as a tribute to Kavi Arasu Kannadasan for Chennai Twestival.

• Kalaimamani Shobana Ramesh and troupe will perform for the event.

• Director S.P. Muthuraman, actor Sivakumar, writer Indhumathi are the celebrities to be invited.

• It will happen on March 25th , 2010 in RK Swamy Hall, Mylapore.
