Rett Shaver Rett Shav- er, age 86, of Coon Run Road, West liberty, Ky., passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, in the Hazard ARH, hospital, Hazard, Ky., after a illness. He was born Oct. 12, 1928, in West Liberty, Ky., a son of the late Frank and Carrie (John- son) Shaver. Rett served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was of the Baptist Faith. During his lifetime,. he also worked as a logger and construction worker building homes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Survivors include his wife, James Wyatt “Jamie” Brown James Wyatt "Ja- mie" Brown, age 51, of Georgetown, Ky., formerly of French- burg, Ky., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at his residence. He was June 26, 1963, in Frenchburg, Ky., and worked as a diesel mechanic. He had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. Clifton “Cliffy” Coffee Clifton “Cliffy” Cof- fee, age 38, West Liberty, Ky., passed away Tues- day, Jan. 6, 2015, in Central Bap- tist Hospital, Lexington, Ky., following an extended illness. Born Jan. 27, 1976, in More- head, Ky., Clifton was a good hearted man, and a very special and loving guy to many people. Clifton loved his family and friends, and never met a stranger. He was full of happi- ness and humor, and had many nicknames. His family called him Bruno, and his friends called him Cornbread. He had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. Preceded him in death was his precious little boy Austin Clay and maternal grandmother,Peggy Tharp and paternal grandparents,Clayton and Melovee Coffee and his friend, Matt Arnett. He is survived by his wife, Angela (Hall) Coffee; his par- ents, McKinley and Myrtle (Tharp) Coffee, of West Lib- erty; and his father- and mother- Kenneth Taulbee Kenneth Joe Taulbee, 63, of Hazel Green, de- parted this life on Fri- day, Jan. 9, 2015. He was a son of the late Dennis Sr. and Bonnie Mayabb Taulbee, born in Morgan County, Kentucky, on September 5, 1951. Kenneth is survived by his son, T.J. Taulbee and wife, Sarah, of Saint Paris, Ohio; three grandchildren, Zoe Taul- bee, Zeke Taulbee, and Zander Taulbee; two brothers, Den- nis Taulbee, Jr., of Hazard, and Rick Taulbee, of Hazel Green; one sister, Del Banks, of Franklin, Ohio; two special nieces, Sebra Karen Taulbee Earl Reed Mr. James Earl Reed, of Caney, Ky., retired educator and commu- nity activist, passed away at his home on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, fol- lowing a short illness at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Wanda Jones Reed, and his daughter Gayle Reed. He was born May 6, 1928, in Westboro, Ohio, to the late Curtis and Zona Johnson. He was lovingly adopted by his late Uncle and Aunt, Luther and Laura Reed and lived in Caney all his life. A brother, Melvin Johnson, of Blanchester, Ohio survives. Mr. Reed served the Morgan County Schools for over 4o years as a teacher, counselor and principal. He served as Superintendent of Schools and retired twice from that position serving two tenures during his career. He had a heart for all children, remained dedicated to students’ education during and after his career. Mr. Reed was involved in numerous community endeav- ors among which include the, Board of Directors for Bank of the Mountains, ARH Care Board of Trustees, the ARH Hospital Network, Morgan ARH Hospital Advisory Board, MMRC Industrial Board, Ken- tucky Association of School Administrators, Kentucky As- sociation of School Superin- tendents, the Greenville Lodge, West Liberty Kiwanis Club (which named him Outstanding Citizen of the Year), and the Elbert Spencer Elbert Spencer, 81, of Loudon- ville, Ohio, formerly of Morgan County, died Saturday evening, Jan. 10, 2015, in Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudon- ville, Ohio, after an extended illness. He was born Sept. 7, 1933, in Breathitt County, KY and was the son of the late Isaac Newton “Dee” and Bertha (Benton) Spencer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and had lived in Loudonville, Ohio, since 2007, moving from the Middle- town-Germantown areas. Elbert was a 25-year em- ployee of Rogers Pontiac-Buick in Dayton, where he worked as a body mechanic until his retire- ment in 1990. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Loudonville and enjoyed dancing and card playing, and vegetable and flower gardening. He was preceded in death by his brother, Avery Johnson; and brothers-in-law, Walton and Hardy Jones; sisters-in-law, Lea and Cecil Jackson. In addition to his wife, daughter and brother he is survived by sisters-in-law, Berneaze (Harold) Wallace of Lexington, Dolores Jones, of Cannel City, and Margaret Jones, of Morehead. Billy G. RoseBilly G. Rose was born Sep-

tember 21, 1931 on GreenbriarCreek, near Lee City of WolfeCounty, Kentucky. He was the theson and seventh child of Grant B.Rose and Nellie Day Taylor Rose.

He attended Amyx PublicSchool, of Wolfe County, andgraduated from Hazel GreenAcademy in 1949. He attendedthe University of Kentucky andgraduated June 5, 1953 with aBachelor of Science in Agricul-ture degree.

Billy was in the Company D37th Armored Infantry BattalionDivision Military 3rd ArmoredDivision as Military Police of theUnited States Army during theKorean War Era and was sta-tioned in Berlin, Germany.

Billy served as office managerfor the United States Departmentof Agriculture in Wolfe Countyfor 9 months. He was appointedSeptember 30, 1957 acting Post-master of Hazel Green for 2 1/2years, and from January 1, 1967to October 1, 1982, a total of 15years, was the first mail carrier onRural Route 1 out of Hazel Green.

He was appointed October 2,1982 Postmaster of Hazel Greenand Booneville, Kenturcky,where he retired October 2, 1992,with 37 years of service in thepostal service. He also owned andoperated Rose’s Market, in HazelGreen, for eight years beginningin 1960.

Billy was a father of three,farmer, friend to all and a dedi-cated public servant. He enjoyedsquirrel hunting, bird hunting,folk and square dancing.

He was a member of theMizpah Lodge #507 F. & A.M.where he served as Master Ma-son for 56 years and held officesas Master and Secretary as wellas other offices for many of thoseyears.

Billy is survived by two sonsand one daughter: Billy ScottRose and wife, Cindy NelsonRose, of Mt. Sterling; RonaldDale Rose, of Bowling Green,and Verinda La’Fran Rose, ofHazel Green; five grandchildren:Eric Nelson Rose, of Lexington,Elizabeth Renee Webster and hus-band, Adam Webster, of Auburn,Maria Katheleen Rose, of Peoria,AZ, Evan Scott Rose, of Lexing-ton, and Koncrieta KatheleenRose, of Hazel Green; one sisterand one brother, Garnet MableRose Meinders, of Cincinnati,

Ohio, and Robert Clinton Rose,of Hazel Green; 7 nephews, 13nieces, 6 first cousins, and a hostof family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Billywas preceded in death by twobrothers, Kenneth Rose, who diedas an infant, and Henry ClayRose, whose widow, Opal Chris-tian Rose, survives; three sisters,Barsha Irene Rose Howard, MaryLee Rose Lacy, and Ruby GayRose Miller; his firs t wife,Verniece Wilson Rose; and hissecond wife, Rosemary JohnsonRose.

Billy was a member of theBooneville Methodist Church formany years and attended RedRiver Community Church aftermoving back from Arkansas fol-lowing the death of his secondwife. He attended church as longas his health permitted and was adevoted Christian who read hisBible daily.

He was raised in the HickoryGrove area of Morgan County,attended Wrigley ElementarySchool, and graduated MorganCounty High School in 1972.Kenneth was a retired/disabledstrip mine worker. He got savedon April 25, 2010, and was bap-tized on May 2, 2010, at the In-dex Community Church. He wasa beloved son, cherished brotherto his seven siblings, and anadored uncle to his many niecesand nephews.

Kenny loved watching NCIS,University of Kentucky basket-ball, and WLJC-TV, Beattyville.He loved listening to Bob Dylan,classic rock, and old-timey gos-pel music. He loved animals, hav-ing owned numerous pets duringhis life. He enjoyed spending timewith his family and friends.Kenny was one in a million andwas the coolest uncle in the uni-verse. He will be deeply and sadlymissed forever.

She was born on Nov. 18, 1916, to James E. Little and Lena Denniston Little in Den-niston, KY.

Bernice married Raymond Bryant in 1931. She was a co-owner of Bryant’s Market at Mariba, Ky., where she worked for several years. She was also a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Star.

Bernice had accepted Jesus into her life many years ago and cherished her Lord and Sav-ior. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Frenchburg, Ky., and attended the Bethel Baptist Church, of Frenchburg, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Bry-ant; sons, James Donald Bryant and Raymond Bruce Bryant; a sister, Beatrice Little Dennis;

in-law, Mary and Randall Hall, of West Liberty; his two sisters, Amanda and Scott Smith, of Berea, Ky., and Candice and Sam Prater, of West Liberty; his papaw, Charles Tharp, of West Liberty; three nieces, Corey Smith, and Samantha and Ol-ivia Prater; two nephews, Kaleb Cummins and Kirby Smith; two special boys, Kaleb and Brax-ton, who he loved like his own son; a very dear friend,Chad Whisman; and a host of family and friends.

sports enthusiast for the Morgan County Cougars, Morehead State University Eagles, and his beloved University of Kentucky Wildcats.

Mr. Reed's legacy and im-pact will be recognized for his priorities of faith, family and his friends. He was an active and supportive member of the Broadway Church of God and served on the Board of Trustees.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Avery Johnson; and brothers-in-law, Walton and Hardy Jones; sisters-in-law, Lea and Cecil Jackson.

In addition to his wife, daughter and brother he is survived by sisters-in-law, Berneaze (Harold) Wallace of Lexington, Dolores Jones, of Cannel City, and Margaret Jones, of Morehead.
