TEACHERS’ POLITENESS
• behaving in a way that is socially correct and
shows understanding of and care for other people's feelings
• Politeness : procedure, custom/ habit that occurs in community that helps build
bonding relationship
Characteristics of politeness :
be sincere, honest, kind, caring and willing to sacrifice be thankful and grateful brave and able to conduct any
misconduct respect other people non-hostile and not hurting other
people warm and generous
TEACHERS’ CAREHall, George, and Rutherford, 1977 :• A composite representation of the
feelings, thoughts, and attention given to certain issues or
tasks
• Care : combination of feelings, thoughts and attention given to the issues that
teachers face while implementing their daily duties
A teacher should :
be aware of changes be interested in changes recognize the pupils manage changes assess the impact of
changes work with colleagues make improvements
Fuller , Parsons and Watkins (1974), categorized care into 3 levels:CARE IN TERMS OF SELF ACTUALIZATION
- Daily life managements- Teacher’s personal concern (does not
interfere with or affects the works
CARE TOWARDS THE JOB OF TEACHING- Concerned about the materials, methods and
teaching workloads- Try to understand pupils’ perspectives and
opinion of the teacher’s teaching
CONCERN OVER THE IMPACT OF TEACHING- Involves teacher’s observation of the effectiveness of teaching and pupils’ achievement
TEACHERS’ APPEARENCE
Stewart, 2005:• Teacher’s appearance :personality or
traits that reflect the success of a professional teacher
(responsible, creative, empathetic nature and professionalism)• Appearance : how someone presents : show an admirable and noble character
A teacher should :
open, able to accept opinions
engage in dialogue professionally
well-mannered able to raise
pleasant effect

- Skill in recognizing the pupils
- (socio-economic background, culture, religion and gender)

- Communicate effectively

- Perceptions about his actions
- Sensitive to the diversity in the environment
DEMOCRACY
- Upholds pure democracy and practices in daily life
- Equal opportunities
BUSINESS IN SCHOOL• Teacher should fulfil their
responsibility as a teacher• Eager to conduct businesses and
forget about the responsibilities• Violating the school ethics of
public service• Teacher who indulge in business :
reprimaded by administration and appropriate action should be taken
PART TIME CAREER• Educators- civil servants ( subjected to the
rules of the Government General Orders)• Apply permission to work part-time• Teachers must adhere to the Code of
Ethics for Teacher• Make sure the job is not implemented
during working hours & does not affect his official work• For example : conducting tuition
TIME MANAGEMENT• Effective planning of time• Encompasses 2 dimensions :i. Management of teacher’s timeii. Instilling the importance of time management among the pupils• Consistent in its implementation. ( plan teaching and learning time )
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
• Categorised into 2 aspects :
Managing money while working
Managing personal and family finance
- Collection of ‘suwa’ like pupils’ fees, donation, public donation. (honest)
- Teacher must be accountable for funds collected
- Practice moderation - Be cautions when shopping, do not
indulge in extravagant lifestyle- Differentiate between needs and luxuries- Spending wisely- Need to save for future
