There are two basic types of image files in graphic design. Raster and Vector.

Vector.EPS .SVG .AI

The most versatile, Vector images are created using special software that uses math to comprise the artwork. This art is made up of points with interconnecting lines and curves. Since it is math based the same file can be used for a tiny icon or a banner the size of a building.

* These images can be converted to Raster for use when needed. * These images can NOT be converted to vector. *Don’t be afraid to ask for a sample of your art printed before you have several copies printed.

Raster.JPG .PNG .GIF .BMPThe most common, Raster images are made up of pixels. Think of it like a mosaic. From a distance the image might look smooth and fluid. However the closer you get (the more you zoom in) the easier it is to see the individual pieces. Those pieces are the pixels. The pixelated look is not preferable for your images and is regarded as ameture and unprofessional.

Color accuracy is very important in representing your brand. Yet it is often overlooked or ignored. Between paper & pixels there are many ways color is made.When a designer is creating your artwork they typically view it on a computer monitor. That monitor when it shows no color is black, therefore to create color you have to add colored light. On the other hand, when a printer recreates that artwork they use paper, which is white when there is no color and requires pigments to make color.

Because the processes to make the same color are very different in the two worlds a translation is needed.
