Celebrate Garden Day on Sunday 12th May What is Garden Day?

Sunday 12th May marks the launch of Garden Day, a nationwide community benefit project created by the Candide gardening app. The movement encourages gardeners to down tools for the day, pop on a flower crown and celebrate their gardens with their neighbours, family and friends. The aim is simply to celebrate the pleasure and benefits our gardens bring for mental wellbeing and building community. Great Ways to celebrate

Garden Day is for anyone and everyone. If you own a plant, then you’re a gardener. You can host a Garden Day gathering on a balcony, a lawn or patio or in a flat surrounded by precious pot plants. The main thing is to gather neighbours, family and friends together on Sunday 12th May for elevenses, a more-the-merrier lunch, barbecue, afternoon tea or a glass of wine or two - the choice is yours and the options are limitless!

Look out for beautiful Garden Day postcard invitations inside the May issue of BBC Gardeners’ World magazine (out on 18 April) to send to your guests. Invitations are also part of the toolkit available to every Garden Day host at www.gardenday.co.uk/toolkit. These are being held at Hauser & Wirth (4th May), Chelsea Physic Garden (5th May), Frome Independent Market (5th May) and RHS Wisley (11th May). (Standard garden entry fees apply.)
