description

CCM's 2015-16 Mainstage Series continues with a moving production of the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical CAROUSEL. Directed and choreographed by Diane Lala with musical direction by Roger Grodsky, CAROUSEL runs Oct. 29 through Nov. 1 in CCM’s Corbett Auditorium. Based on the 1909 play LILIOM, CAROUSEL tells a story of tragedy, forgiveness and timeless love through the turbulent relationship of Julie Jordan, a quiet, naïve mill-worker, and Billy Bigelow, a swaggering, carefree carnival barker. Richard Rodgers portrays the love story gloriously in his sweeping score, which he maintained was his personal favorite of all the shows he wrote. Learn more at http://ccm.uc.edu.

It feels good to give back. And together with our generous customers and

employees, Macy’s averages more than $1 million a week to initiatives important to you and your community – arts, education, the environment, HIV/AIDS, and women’s health and wellness.

It adds up to $69 million a year. It’s a good feeling we can all share, and to us, that’s the magic of giving.

JOHN HARRISON John Harrison is the founder of The CCM Harmony Fund: Challenging Hate and Prejudice through Performing Arts. The arts are truly a language that all people speak; they cut across racial, cultural, social, educational and economic barriers. The CCM Harmony Fund was established to celebrate the language of the arts, encourage conversation and advocate compassion. The fund supports our incredibly talented students and faculty at the College-Conservatory of Music in the media and performing arts in creative and unique ways to promote culturally diverse audiences, and fight hate and prejudice. Mr. Harrison has made provisions in his will to support and continue the mission of The Harmony Fund.

The Harmony Fund was created as both an acknowledgement of the continuing existence of hate and prejudice within this civilized world and, more importantly, the ability of the arts to help us better understand and transcend these emotions.

FRIENDS OF CCMDear Friends and Alumni,

As you know, UC’s College-Conservatory of Music has an international reputation for excellence and competes with our country’s finest conservatories for extraordinary students. Yes, the performances are outstanding. Yes, it is the largest single source of performances in the state of Ohio. And yes, CCM is an Ohio Center

of Excellence. But are you aware that CCM alumni and students are the arts engine for our own community?

Not only are CCM alumni and students working behind the scenes and appearing on stages around the world but you also witness their work and performances at our very own Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati, Know Theatre of Cincinnati, Cincinnati’s School for Creative and Performing Arts and the list goes on and on.

The Friends of CCM raise funds for scholarships to help attract the best and brightest students to CCM. I am proud of our college, students, alumni and the impact CCM has on our arts community. And today, I encourage you to also become a Friend of CCM!

Becoming a member is easy: complete the form on the next page and mail it back to us. You can also visit ccm.uc.edu and click on the FRIENDS link to join. Not only will you be investing in CCM, but you’ll be fueling the arts engine for some of our city’s most beloved organizations.

Best regards,

Donna de Graaf, President Friends of CCM

P.S. Look for big changes in the near future as the Friends of CCM and Alumni Governing Boards continue to merge together in the spirit of ONECCM.

“adorableness alert! goofy, good fun.” –Cincinnati enquirer

Family-Friendly musical. What do you get when you combine a nearsighted bookworm heroine, two fabulously self-absorbed stepsisters, one devilishly diva stepmother, along with a self-empowering Well-Wisher? A fun spin on the classic fairy tale that demonstrates being smart is true beauty! When the King pressures his romantically challenged son to choose a bride from hundreds of “applicants,” a cross-country tour of the kingdom ensues to reunite a missing sneaker—yes a sneaker!—with its rightful owner.

Vocal diva Megan Hilty (Wicked, Smash) brought audiences to their feet at her most recent Pops performance—named Broadway World’s “Best Special Theatre Event” in 2014. Now, Hilty returns with a touching tribute to Cincinnati’s own sweetheart of song, Rosemary Clooney.
