Prayer for Director of Music
I would like to ask for your prayers in the upcoming weeks -
after discussion with our musicians, Parish Council and Fi-
nance Council, we’d like to work on elevating and enhancing
our musical experience at Mass, so we will soon be looking to
hire a part-time Director of Music for our parish. Please pray
that the Lord will send us someone for this ministry who is a
great fit and can invest their time and ability in helping en-
hance our music here at St. Joseph!

Catholic Schools-Special Collection-Jan 31-Feb 6
Please support the Catholic schools in our Diocese by donating
to the Catholic Schools Collection. This collection provides
immediate assistance that our 14 Catholic schools count on.
The purpose of our Catholic schools is to form students to be
good citizens of the world, love God and neighbor, and enrich
society with the transforming message of the Gospel. To do-
nate please use the Catholic Schools envelope in your packet,
a plain envelope marked Catholic Schools or by choosing
“Catholic Schools Collection” on the “Give” page of our website
at stjoseph-hayward.org. Donating online is simple and se-
cure.

Coming Events
Beginning January 26 through February 1 the Diocese of
Superior will be holding Catholic School Week. Besides
giving a special tribute to these great educational institutions
we will be holding a special collection during that time. We
have 14 Catholic school on Diocese of Superior. Your
generosity is absolutely vital for the existence of these
institutions, which are directly contributing to the formation
of our Church’s future. Many of you went to a Catholic school
and were fortunate enough to send your children to one of
them, please give thanks for a great education you and your
family have received and donate as much as you can during
this time.
We are still far from reaching our CSA goal of $13,468, we
still have $4,738 to raise. Many thanks to all those who did
your part, filled out an envelope and contributed to this
campaign. We can not meet this goal without full
participation of the parish. Please remember, no gift is too
small. Online giving option is available.
We would like to thank everyone for the generosity you’ve
expressed toward C.A.R.E. Empty Mitten campaign. Well
done!!! Together we have raised $777, that will go to help
people in our area to make ends meet. For a lot of them
C.A.R.E. is their only hope in time of need and you
contributed to that cause.
Please remember in prayer: Jim Bartz, Jane Benson, Deb

You may see some Secular Franciscans wearing the plain Tau
Cross as a symbol of their profession. Others wear the Tau Cross
with a hand on each side of the cross. One hand symbolizes
Christ's hand, the other symbolizes the hand of St. Francis. Before
he died, St. Francis received the stigmata, the wounds of Christ in
his own body. This can be a reminder that we are in Christ's hands
in the world now. (Pauline Cahalen, S.F.O., Franciscan Spirituality
and Work)

please call Veronica at 715-558-7258.
Relay for Life– January 31
The Relay for Life of Sawyer County and First Lutheran Church are
partnering for a family fun ski and snowshoe evening at the “OO”
Trailhead on Sunday, January 31, from 4:00 to 6:30 pm. The
event will be completely outdoors—face coverings and social dis-
tancing are required. A star dedication, lit ski loop and snowshoe
trail, prayer loop, bonfire and hot cocoa are included for a $10
donation to the American Cancer Society. A virtual option is also
available. Registration forms which are available on St. Joseph’s
bulletin board and on the Relay website, may be dropped off with
a $10 donation at First Lutheran Church. On-line registration is
available at www.relayforlife.org/sawyercountywi. Click Donate,
select Night Ski and indicate who you want on the star in a Per-
sonal Message at the bottom. If you want to dedicate a star for
more than one person, increase your donation by $5 for each ded-
ication. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. For more infor-
mation please contact Joan Ackerman—715-634-0059 or
2021 Vocations Rosary Challenge
Join the Diocese of Superior Vocations Team in praying the rosary
for vocations in 2021. The team is challenging the faithful of the
Diocese to pray 1,200 rosaries throughout this year for an in-
crease of vocations to the priesthood, religious life, and perma-
nent diaconate.
Participating in the Rosary Challenge is easy. Pray a rosary your-
self or with a group (1 rosary prayed with 10 people = 10 rosar-
ies), log on to Facebook and go to the Called North page, and
simply leave a comment on the pinned post at the top of the page
so we can keep track of how many rosaries have been prayed.
Prayer for Our Nation
Almighty God, our Rock and our Salvation, we beg You to pour
out your Holy Spirit upon our fractured nation. Heal the divi-
sions that separate us and remove all obstacles to authentic
unity. May You guide this great country of ours and lead our
citizens to embrace one another as neighbors and fellow coun-
trymen and women, created in Your own image and likeness.
Give us a fresh opportunity for renewal and true solidarity for
the common good of our homeland. May we return to our true
identity as a people of faith and charity. Help us to always re-
main One Nation, Under God, Indivisible with Liberty and Jus-
tice for All. AMEN
