Gate Valves
DesignSMITH® gate valves are designed in strict accordance with API 600 and
comply with ASME B16.34 pressure-temperature ratings.
RangeSMITH® gate valves are available in sizes 2” to 36” and in pressure classes
150# to 1500#.
PackingAll SMITH® gate valves are built with a stem packing in accordance with
API 622. This feature guarantees a valve suitable for low emission service.
SMITH® gate valves have been tested in accordance with API 624.
QualityValves are produced in strict accordance with our quality assurance as per
ISO 9001.
TestingValves are production tested and inspected in accordance with API 598. Valves
can also be tested and inspected to meet specific customer requirements.
Material Properties SMITH® ASTM A216 WCB valves are impact tested at
-29Co (-20F). This guarantees the heat treatment process and proves the
toughness of the material, resulting in a reliable valve. All WCB valves are
fully in compliance with NACE MR01-03, MR01-75 and ISO 15156. The
standard bolting is B7M/2HM.
Casting QualitySMITH® implements a quality control program for its castings to ensure
consistent and reliable quality. This program includes:
1) Sample casting evaluation
2) Continuous X-ray monitoring
3) Visual examination
Sample Casting EvaluationBefore a casting is released for production, the sample casting and the x-ray
films are 100% evaluated.
Continuous X-ray MonitoringAll production castings are part of a continuous X-ray monitoring program to
ensure reliable casting quality. Out of every 100 castings, one is evaluated
based on the x-ray films.
Evaluation criteria meets ASTM E446 standards, with the acceptance as per
MSS-SP-147. These criteria meet the acceptance criteria per API RP 591.
Visual ExaminationAll castings are 100% visually examined to ensure consistent quality and reliability.

Final Quality ControlIn the last stage of production, a percentage of all valves are randomly selected.
These valves are re-checked for dimensions, marking, operation and testing by
