Allan R. Williams
Sadly, we must say good-bye to Al Williams,
pictured here with his wife, Mary Ellen, at last
year’s picnic at Old Town Run Mountain Lodge in
Gardners.
Al joined Exchange in April 1989. He’s been an
active member by participating in Car Parking,
Coffee Break and Salvation Army Bell Ringing
over the years. For several years he was also
active in the Lions Club of Newville, which
conflicted with Tuesday meetings of Exchange.
In 2014, the Williamses moved to Cumberland
Crossings and Al became a regular attendee at
our Tuesday meetings.
Al’s gentlemanly ways will be missed by all who
knew him.

A Few Words from the President . . .
Allan (Al) R. Williams
It is with great sadness that one of my official duties as your new president is to announce the passing of our beloved Al Williams. Although Al had been battling a series of minor health issues of late, his passing was totally unexpected. Al passed away at approximately 5:00 PM on July 3rd at West
Shore Hospital. Mary Ellen and family were present. Many of our members will remember the Williams from their bed and breakfast. I know a
number of our folks were guests at one time or another. Additionally, Al was a stalwart at car
parking and coffee break times. He was a member that was proud of what he did to help his
community. It is the greatest of understatements to say, “He will be truly missed, not only by
his family and loved ones, but by all those who had the pleasure of his company.” There are
few compliments in this life that truly tell an individual’s worth, one is “he made a difference,”
the second, “he was a gentleman.” Allan Williams personified both. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection is planned for 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at
Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey W.
Gilbelius and Rev. Jennifer L. McKenna co-officiating. A private interment will be in the church
memorial gardens. A visitation will follow the service with a repast and luncheon in the church
rotunda.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West
Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Second Presbyterian Church
Grounds Beatification Committee.
