Room 1 Writing– Terracotta Warriors

R4 & R5 Trip to see

Wolgang’s Magical Musical Circus

Crash thud I creep around the corner and see the whole terracotta warriors collapsing right in front of me. Broken, smashed into pieces I fall onto my knees trying to put pieces together. In front of my eyes I see the whole building collapsing. I pick up a piece of the terracotta warrior and made a run for it. The piece was hard, grey, a hat of a warriors. I take one more glance at the building and run for my life many others were also fleeing the building. I see a kid crying right in front of my eyes. I grab his hand and the piece, I hop onto the nearest emergency van as we drive off to see many others fleeing Te Papa grabbing their kids. I'm so glad I am now safe. By Darcey

“These things are so creepy!” Haley whispered. “I know right!” Haley’s best friend Lillian replied. They were at the Te Papa Terracotta Warrior exhibit for a class trip. Haley and Lillian were practically the only ones in the entire school who had been before, and so they were bored out of their minds. Haley's feet were getting sore from walk-ing around so much so she sat down on a bench to rest. “Girls up you get.” It was their teacher, Miss Harriet who could be very mean sometimes so they decided it was best to get up. As they were walking along looking at all the different warriors Haley heard a ‘crack’ and then a ‘thud, thud.’ “Did you hear that?” she asked. “Yeah, I wonder what it was.” Lillian replied. All of a sudden the room was filled with the same ‘crack, thud, thud.’ every single one of the Terracotta Warriors had fallen to the ground and cracked open. Inside each and every one of them was thousands and thousands of golden coins. Each one worth hundreds of dollars. “Haley! Haley wake up!” it had all been a dream. She wasn't going to be rich. The warriors were still standing and her class was lining up to get ready to go.

Summer Soccer Cardinal Crocodiles Summer Soccer Final Sadly the Crocodiles lost 2-0 but they played an amazing game - they ran until they couldn't run anymore, and Quinny was amazing at goal keep and saved lots of goals. They were pretty impressed with their medals for second place in Grade 12, which some Wellington Phoenix players presented to them.

The Garden Group The weather was against the gardeners

this week with the wind blowing and the

rain coming down. The team started in

the classroom by talking about the

changes in seasons and the impact that

this has on planting and growing. When

the rain stopped half the team went

outside to work in the garden and on the

compost, and the others stayed inside to

plant seeds that will be transferred into the

garden once they start growing. The garden

is still supplying us with amazing tomatoes,

cucumber, herbs and silverbeet. It is fantastic

to see the hard work the students are putting

into the garden and the wonderful crops that

they continue to harvest.

The Kitchen Group In the kitchen the team made great use of the fresh harvest and made the most delicious pizza and salad. The smell of pizza cooking wafted down the hall and when the pizzas came out of the oven they tasted as good as they looked. The students not only made the dough they also made the pizza sauce with tomatoes from our own garden. Now that everyone knows how awesome fresh homemade pizza is there may be a lots of people making pizza this weekend.
