p What is the student union council anyway?
The student unions highest decision mak-ing body is called Fullmäktige in Swedish and Student union council in English. The 35 members of the council are students at Chalmers, they are elected anually through open and democratic elections. The speaker of the council summons 8 meetings per year and all student union members have the right to sit in.
å What are they talking about?
ç How the student union should develop ç What the union's opinions are ç What the management team should do ç The annual budget for the union ç The membership fee
In general all major decisions are taken by the council. The student union management team then carry out most of the daily work to keep the union going.
í What's the election about?
To choose the 35 representatives who'll act as your voice in the council.
THE STUDENT UNION COUNCIL
Q & A
= Why does it matter?
A high voting turnout makes a big impact. Not only between members and the council but also towards the university and politi-cians.
÷ What can I find in this print? The candidates and what matters most to them, how the election and the council works and where to turn if there are any errors you want to report concerning the election process.
Ƥ Why should I vote? At this point you might have figured out why. The student voice is stronger and makes a greater impact if the turnout is high. All the work we do together matter more and has greater influence if all members cast their vote before May 7th. Remember, true democ-racy starts by voting. And voting is easy!
