session which provides the audi-ence (like it or not) to dialogue about the topics brought up in the play or simply listen to the cast expound on their thoughts.

The staging of the set and props showed a creative approach to the use of space. Because Lighted Window is not a tradi-tional theater, some difficulties occurred in a few areas, including sound management, so those with sensitive ears might want to bring ear plugs for the first act. But overall, it is interesting how they made the most of the various ar-eas offstage to create the illusion of a broader area for the action.

Much of the cast had double duty, playing very different types of characters in each instance. According to the program, “Liv-ing Doll” was brought to life by Casey Bonsall, Renee Hardin and Kyali Stromberg, with the down-right unsettling Talky Tina por-trayed by Mia Jones. In “Kick the Can,” Ed Pansullo, Larry Edson, Ayleen Augustine, Sophie Gil-

bert, Tracy Popenhagen, and Col-by Worthington are the residents of Sunnyvale Rest Home. The staff and other cast are filled out by Jen McCuison, Renee Hardin, Michaela Jenichen, Amanda Mc-Cuison, Kyali Stromberg and Mia Jones. Finally, “The Shelter” is inhabited by Michaela Jenichen, Casey Bonsall, Tracey Popen-hagen, Ayleen Augustine, Larry Edson, Jen McCuiston, Sophie Gilbert, Ed Pansullo and Casey Worthington.

Twilight Zone the Play was directed by Flo Galvez with light-ing by Terry Shoup and Catherine Konrath, sound by Mark Fanuc-chi and Tracey Popenhagen, with sets by Larry Edson. This is a welcoming theater troupe with a lot of heart and appear to have a great connection together. What they lack in technical mastery is supported by their enthusiasm and desire to entertain, seeking to share the fun of drama. To learn more, please visit www.lighted-window.org.

appealed to the audience. Kreamer exhibits so much energy and joy to his character that the audience liked him from his first appearance and rewarded his efforts when they chose him to be the detective at the conclusion of the play.

All of the remaining actors were very talented and added to the success of the show. Again, don’t leave after the slow first act, as the second act is certainly worth waiting around for.

A special mention should be made to the choreographer Jennifer Copaken. I have not seen her work before, but I would hire her in a heartbeat. She has devised wonderful patterns for the non-dancing actors. She challenged her cast and they worked hard to deliver. I have seen this show at least a dozen times and this was the most inventive choreography that I have witnessed out of

the lot. The direction was well done and the stage action well designed. I admire director Scott Guggenheim for using the small space to its best advantage and making the set changes a part of the show.

Costumes by Sherrol Simard were the correct period and well designed for the characters. The props and stage furniture were also from the correct period and added to the total look of the production.

Tickets may be purchased at the door and there is car validation for the lot next door. The production team and cast have done the most one can do with a difficult script. I feel at the conclusion of the evening that the audience had a good time as most of them left with a smile on their face. For additional information, call 408-404-7711.

of paintings and sculptures that were the products of various artist from those cultures and countries beginning in the late first century and lastly, the architecture of the times, mainly temples, tombs and public structures. Since less than one percent of those civilizations at the beginning of the Current Era (CE) were literate, the eyes and ears of the people responded to story-telling and visual images. The ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans of BCE (Before Common Era) were the principal providers of much of the historic messaging that exists today. We must also remember the development of the most ancient cultures of China and India, each with religious origins that preceded the biblical “creation date.” These were not white societies by any means. Their ancient art and structures clearly illustrate that.

So where did the “white Jesus” originate from? The definition of Caucasian peoples came mostly from the Germanic Tribes, the area of Gaul (Brittany, France and Romania), and the surrounding regions. According to the Christian Bible, Jesus was born about 4-6 BCE in Bethlehem of Judea in ancient Palestine along the Eastern Mediterranean Sea which is generally referred to as the “Holy Lands.” His lineage

came through the House of David, descending from Abraham, whose family originated from the intersection of the great rivers of the Tigris and the Euphrates in southern Iraq. This was the professed location of the Garden of Eden. Lebanon, Syria, Arabia and the Sinai of the northern most African continent were all part of the landscape. The coloring of the peoples on that era were, and still are, tan skinned. Until his passing in 1975, the last surviving person to lay a justifiable claim to those ancient times as a descendant of Solomon, was the Ethiopian ruler Haile Selassie. His religious title was “Lion of Juda.” His stature was not quite 5’- 1”, somewhat shorter than the historic men of that region at that time. He was defined as African and his color was brown.

The earliest Images of Jesus can be traced from small, ink line portraits of the 2nd century and mosaic images in the early temples and sanctuaries up to the middle centuries (the Dark Ages). The European Renaissance presented a much lighter skinned Jesus whose image was painted by commissioned artisans as directed by the Catholic Bishops of the day and country. It was through these images that the local people could relate to the “Jesus” in the Bible. He was

painted to look like one of the “locals.” In Europe, Jesus was white, in the Holy Lands he was tan, in Africa he was black and so on. Keep in mind that there is no physical description of Jesus found in the Bible. His image was always a product of the artists of the times. For the large paintings of the “Last Supper” by Leonardo da Vinci and “The Creation” on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo, both artist used friends as stand-ins for their people models, not unlike Hollywood film makers using “extras.” They have no more credibility as to the physical image of Jesus than the actors who depicted him on canvas, walls and film. If anything were true about the representations of what Jesus looked like during his time and place in history, he would have resembled any other young man in and around Judea with uncut, dark brown hair, an un-trimmed beard, dark brown eyes, about 5’ 8” tall and dressed as prescribed according to the Jewish Pharisee law. I seriously doubt that he was a 6’- 2”, muscle bound blue eyed blonde as depicted in many of Hollywood’s creations of historical biblical events.
