Need lots of riders on the float that Ron & Bey Nicoles are providing for our use. Costumes not required but if you have one you’re welcome to use it. Bring a folding chair, it’s a long bumpy ride from the south end to the north end of the route. Also need walkers and candy throwers. You can take the trams to the holding area to join up or get on the float near the east side of the Fullen- wider building about 3:00 PM Thursday. Dress warm. Our March 26-29 rally will be at the FMCA Naonal rally, L.A Fair Grounds in Pomona. We will gather early in the “holding” area and then go in to park as a Chapter. We have volunteered as a chapter to be “Seminar Monitors”. This is an easy indoor assignment. Handing out literature and collecng paper work if needed, straighten out the chairs etc. The Chapter might be recognized during this Naonal rally for achieving its 50 th year. California Gold is the theme. Please call me if you can aend and vol- unteer. PRESIDENTS MESSAGE Christmas greetings, it’s that time of year already. The Chula Vista rally had a great turn out with 49 of the 51 coaches reg-istered, able to attend. The

weather was very nice and lots of activi-ties kept everyone busy and enter-tained. Paul & Joan Flickinger and Terry & Darlene Glenn did a super job. Many thanks also to the volunteers. The Bone Head Award went to Randy Rolf, he made an illegal turn on his bike and dumped Debbie and the dog. Shame. The new officers and incumbents were installed by Past President Lon Cross. Let’s all wish them well. New Appointed Officers were also designated. George Overman is the new Membership Chair-man so dues payments will now be han-dled “By George”. Note back page of Spot-Lite for the new listed duties. A rocket Ship is being built for the Chapter Float we will have at the Indio WMHA rally parade for January. Need

lots of riders on the float that Ron & Betty Nicoles are providing for our use. Costumes not required but if you have one you’re welcome to use it. Bring a folding chair, it’s a long bumpy ride from the south end to the north end of the route. Also need walkers and candy throwers. You can take the trams to the holding area to join up or get on the float near the east side of the Fullen-wider building about 3:00 PM Thursday. Dress warm. Plans are well under way with activi-ties, entertainment and gala catered 50th anniversary dinner. A committee has been formed and invitations will be sent to Past Presidents, old timers and Official Dignitaries of FMCA and WMHA. I am looking for a great turn out of chapter members to come and celebrate this great accomplishment of our motorhome chapter, the first and oldest in the west. Still need some Trail Bosses for some of the rallies. This is a great experience

and extra benefit to the chapter. You can put your slant on the rally and there is always lots of help available from the attendee’s. The search for new locations is ongoing. Parking fees and clubhouse availability are some of the considerations along with location and accessibility. Feel free to call me with suggestions, my email and phone are always open.

SAFETY OFFICERS WORDS DECEMBER 2014 It's many years since I wrote about safety, but having made plenty Boo-Boos myself may qualify me. Walking around your rig, prior and post travel, with check list in hand, can pre-vent many mishaps. Instead of hurrying with this task, take your time! My Boo-Boos usual-ly occurred when I hurried or had other things on my mind (not much capacity there). I use some small device attached to either the steering wheel or the gear shift lever to warn me that the TV dish or antenna is raised, even with a warning light on the dash. We are advised to turn off the propane while en-route and of course while fueling. Exiting and reentering your coach while fueling can generate static electricity thereby causing an explosion. It's best to stay out until done. When the hook-ups are on the passenger side and water, sewer, and electrical connections must be run under the coach, be sure they are clear of where the levelers will descend. Driving with your headlights on during day-time provides additional safety by calling attention to the gleam. I'm aware that you all know these things. These are just reminders. Along with that, with Indio drawing nigh, remember: Holding Tanks EMPTY, Water Tanks FULL. SAFE TRAVELS, RICK RICORDATI
