Photo Access has decided not to continue with thecollaboration, although Mark Blumer will still beinvolved on a personal basis, as it was his idea originally.Mark was originally referred to CABBI by the Mayor LizInnes and Indi Carmichael to get this idea off the ground.
Lindsey Stewart (the event manager for Willinga Park) isalso assisting with the help of Maggie Brennan, SueFrazer and Cecilia Jackson.

Well we are certainly living through interesting times, fires, floods and now coronavirus? As Australia is rapidly closing down, CABBI has respondedby closing the Gallery and suspending all workshops, exhibitions and pop ups until further notice. Our affiliations with River of Art, the Catalina Club and theBatemans Bay Marina have also been put on hold.It is prudent to observe the physical distancingrequirements but this makes social connections even moreimperative. The technology is there on your phone, emails, facebookor other social media sites, so stay connected any way youcan, as you are not alone.
The CABBI Committee has decided to take CABBI memberswork online, with a gallery of contributing members worksthat are for sale, with a shopping cart, credit card facilitiesand delivery arrangements. We are working out the details at present and theassociated costs and will keep you posted.
Cheers and stay safe

What’s happening at The Gallery
https://www.facebook.com/thegallerymogo/
Maggie Brennan was the featured artist in March Gallery news from Laurie
Maggie’s paintings are
acrylic on canvas and
depict before and after
views of the bushfire
damage looking from
Maggie’s home across
the dam. The beautiful
paperbark trees are no
longer there. These
sensitive paintings are a
way of processing
feelings caused by the
devastation.
The Gallery has had a couple of months of fantastic
trading thanks to the public who have given us so
much support.
Our featured artist Maggie Brennan has successfully
sold several paintings, unfortunately her time was cut
short with a late start after the fires and now virus
concerns. The next featured artist was to be Judy
Lawler so we will make it up to both these artists
when we are back to normal.
Unfortunately the gallery was closed on 24th March
after 20 years trading at Mogo. The forced closure
will give us time for repairs, long overdue, all work
has been removed in preparation . Nobody knows
how long we will be closed but we will have a big
party when we reopen.
We will be back, bigger and brighter than ever.

Saturday Social Art
Our Saturday afternoons at the tennis
club are on hold until further notice.
This is a time to paint, listen to music,
read and not feel guilty. We will stay in
contact via email. We Cancelled a
planned bus trip to view the Picasso/
Matisse exhibition a much awaited
excursion and were very disappointed.
We plan to do bus trips whenever an
interesting exhibition is on and we can
move around again.
Due to the COVID 19 virus, all Kids Art has beensuspended until further notice. All parents areencouraged to keep their little budding artistsinterested, with lot of in home fun painting and craft.
The last KIDS ART was attended on Sunday 8th March, where the kids had lot of fun painting rocks, creatingmasks and masterpieces. 22 children attended on thisday, with lots of visiting families attending fromCanberra and Sydney. Very good feedback was receivedfrom these visiting families.
Until we meet again Kids, keep on painting……..
Carleta Delac
Our landlord has indicated that he will take this
opportunity to effect repairs to the building and to this
end we/you have moved everything - both 2D and 3D art
– from the Gallery and taken it to our homes. We have
also taken the opportunity to clear all unwanted clutter
from the ceiling to give the trades people a clear access
to wherever they need to work.
It has been mentioned for some time now, that we
should be offering our work on line. Now might be the
time to put this into practice, the committee is
considering this option as a means of maintaining a
profile.
This has come at an unfortunate time, we have had the
drought, then the fires – which lead to no visitors – now
this. Our visitors/customers were just starting to come
back, in fact we have probably had the best few months
in a long time. With perseverance we will get over this
hurdle, so chin up and stay safe.

The Gallery Mogo Repairs
The owner has made an insurance claim for the storm damage to the Gallery, with the following outcomes, the
assessor inspected the Gallery on the 9 March 2020 and a full list of the damages sent to him the following day
Restorx a mould removal company inspected the Gallery on the 12 March and a ventilator installed.
Due to the closure of the Gallery, Restorx will pick up the ventilator on the 3 April 2020 Townsend Building Services
inspected the Gallery on the 16 March and a roofer from Townsends did a measure up for the roof repair in the
afternoon. The drop in floor level in the Gallery would need to be addressed as a building maintenance issue and is
not covered under the insurance. Townsends have recommended total replacement of the roof.
All artwork has been removed from the Gallery so that the repair work can be undertaken. The 20 years of rubbish
has been removed from the ceiling space at the Gallery. A special thanks to Roy and Laurie Phillips as well as Carleta
and David John for carrying out this thankless task. A gutter has been fixed on the adjoining property to stop the
water cascading onto our roof.
The owner has been continuously updated on the situation at the Gallery, including the disruption to our rostered
staff, the exhibition constraints, the damages and the fact that the Gallery is now closed.
Due to the current coronavirus and building repairs CABBI will not be paying any rent until both of this situations are
resolved. I have advised both Restorx and Townsend Building Services that their repair work needs to be co-
ordinated so that the disruption to the Gallery is minimised.
At this stage we have been advised that it will take 2-3 weeks for the estimate to be approved by Alliance and 1
week for them to organise the work.
Cheers
Robert Creed
