Construction began: July 23, 1941.
Opening Date: October 4, 1941.
First Clau of Cadeh: 42.0 .
Sidelights: The first dau of men lo start flying here at Bruce wore
civilian dothes, were housed in ""' Central Hotel, and took dasset
in the BaUinger Courthouse. Bowden, pori barber, and Thomas,
alias "Blow,'' have been around since it st~rtt:d. Field named for Mr.
Bruce, chairman of the Balr.nger Aviation Committwe. Progreu he•
been rapid and Bruce Field has btcome one of the IHding Primary
Training Schools of the Army Air force•.
