February 23-25, 2014 A group of business leaders, city and county offi cials, Leadership Rockwall 2014 Class and Chamber of Commerce Board members and staff will travel to Austin for two days of interaction with the agencies and elected offi cials that make decisions that can aff ect your business and personal life. Th is special event will provide an opportunity for the business men and women of Rockwall to meet and discuss issues and legislation with the offi cials.

Th is is a great opportunity to meet and network with people from the county. Rockwall County Days in Austin starts with a reception on Sunday evening with State Representatives, Senators and their staff s, as well as several State offi ces are invited. On Monday morning, a breakfast is held with our state representation. Following that, participants attend various state agency meetings and/or forums. Some of the 2014 briefi ngs include: Economic Development, Education, & Transportation. Capitol tours are also on the slate of Monday activities.

Rockwall Chamber president selected to Texas Association of Business Board of Directors

Th e president of theRockwall Area Chamber of Commerce, Dana K. Macalik, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Business.

Macalik will fi ll a two-year leadership position that began in January, and in February will attend an induction ceremony in Austin at the 2014 TAB Conference.

Founded in 1922, TAB is the largest and most infl uential broad-based business group in Texas. Th e organization’s mission is to make the Texas business climate the best in the world. Its members and staff advocate policies in Washington, D.C. and Texas to advance that vital objective. Macalik will now be a part of a board consisting of about 100 elected or appointed members from throughout the state of Texas.

Macalik, who joined the Rockwall Chamber as president in October 2011, has a lengthy background in the Rockwall community and views her current position one of pro-business advocacy.

“TAB plays an important role in shaping the business climate in Texas,” said Macalik. “I view this opportunity of service on the TAB Board to help elevate the profi le of the Rockwall area and our vibrant business community at the state level and beyond.”

“Th e Rockwall Area Chamber has several critical functions, including helping local businesses succeed, promoting economic development, and advancing our quality of life,” said Macalik. “I’m looking forward to contributing to TAB’s eff orts on Rockwall’s behalf, to continue to shape the best possible business climate for Texas.”

Rick has served multiple terms on the Board of Directors and has been an Ambassador for 20 years and served on various Chamber committees over the years. Rockwall Area Chamber Starts Two New Business Networking Groups

Following a successful January New Member Orientation session and based on member requests, we are starting up two new Networking groups which will meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month. Each day will have a morning session (beginning at 7:30 a.m.) and an aft ernoon session (beginning at 4:00 p.m.) at the Chamber offi ce. Th ose interested are asked to bring business cards and $2 for snacks. Please plan to be there on time, as we will closely adhere to our 60 minute schedule.
