• The egg has to stay in its fathers brood pouch while the mother finds food
• The chick inside the egg starts to hatch
• It takes about three days for the egg to hatch
• After the chick hatches it is wet like it has just gone swimming.
• The chick’s down dries and it becomes fluffy.
• It has to stay in its fathers brood pouch so it does not freeze.
• The mother comes back and feeds the chick.
• As the chick grows it becomes more independent and does not need to stay in its parents brood pouch anymore.
• The chick starts to lose it’s down.
• The chick loses all it’s down and is able to swim now.
• The penguin is fully grown now.
• It spends most of its time catching fish in the water.
• It will find a mate and it will be able to take care of it’s own egg now.
