...Touching Lives ...Touching Lives with the Gospel with the Gospel
Some interesting facts from the Bible
• Of Jesus’ 132 public appearances in NT, 122 were in the marketplace.
• Of 52 parables Jesus told, 45 had a workplace context. • Of 40 divine interventions recorded in Acts, 39 were in the
marketplace or public square. • Jesus spent his adult life as a carpenter until age 30 before he
went into a preaching ministry in the workplace. • Jesus called 12 normal working individuals, not clergy, to build
His church. And some of them had questionable professions (tax collector, zealot)
• The Bible makes more references to caring for the poor than it does to heaven, hell or the second coming.
Missions: Critical questions for Eastern Europe and Eurasia…• How can we reach post-communist Eastern
Europeans with the Gospel?– Through committed believers who integrate their faith with
their lives at home, church, and in the marketplace.
– Through serving people holistically, addressing their physical and spiritual needs.
• How can we build sustainable ministry and not perpetuate dependency on the West?– Through business development with believers committed to
stewardship.
