Cardboard Box Parade (All Ages):Join FFL readers in the Burlington Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Cardboard Box Parade! Come in costume as a super athlete or wear your SRP t-shirt. Meet library staff at the top of Church Street at 1:00pm to march to City Hall Park for a spectacular event!

DATES: Thursday, July 14, 1-3pm

Tinkering Tuesdays (Ages 8 & Up): Activate your brain and creative energy to experiment with hands-on STEM-type projects, to tinker with electrical circuits, gears, pulleys & more. Followed by Lunch at the Library for all children, tweens, and teens.

DATES: Tuesdays, July 5, 12, 19 & 26, 10:30-noon.

Trad Camp Showcase (All Ages): Join campers and instructors from Young Tradition Vermont’s summer Trad Camp for songs, tunes, and dances. Performers include Pete Sutherland, Brian Perkins, Jane Oxnard & others.

DATES: Wednesday, July 27, 6-7pm.

Summer Wellness Carnival (All Ages):Reading champs, get set to party! Celebrate a summer of sportstastic reading at a carnival on the library lawn! Enjoy face painting, a sports hero photo station, music, watermelon & more! Family and friends welcome!

DATES: Wednesday, August 10, 6-7:30 pm.

YOUTH (K-5th)Develop positive habits: read and make healthy choices every day! • Read with a buddy! Come to the library to read with middle and high schoolers. Play games, read aloud, find new favorite books, and make new friends on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11am-3pm through August 6th. • Participate in free, active, and lively library programming, including face painting, a book giveaway, a parade, and a musical showcase. Celebrate your summer of reading at our BTV SRP Wellness Carnival on August 10th!

Extreme Book Giveaway (Ages 4 & up):Get ready to listen to winning stories performed by a Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) star storyteller, and score your own new book to keep! Please call to pre-register on 865-7216.DATE: Thursday, June 16, 10:30-11:30am.

Championship Central (Ages 3 & Up):Exercise your mind with sports and wellness books, games, puzzles and crafts at the Summer Reading Program activity table.

DATES: Beginning June 18. All day, every day!

Native American Games: (Ages 5 & Up):Run races, play hoop and stick, Cat’s cradle, the Cherokee butterbean game, and more with popular children’s author, storyteller and musician Michael Caduto! Join us for an exciting hour of games in the Native American tradition. Followed by Lunch at the Library for all children, tweens, and teens. DATE: Thursday, June 23, 10:30-11:30am.

Yoga for Kids (Ages 4-11):Calling all young yogis! Engage your natural energy and explore yoga poses, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques. Followed by Lunch at the Library for all children, tweens, and teens.

Ready, Set, Stories with Megan (Ages 3-6)Get ready for a fun-filled storytime with Megan!

Spanish Musical Kids (Ages 1-5):Hola Amigos! Vengan a cantar y aprender! Share Con-stancia’s love of Spanish through Latin American songs and games. Followed by Lunch at the Library for all children, tweens and teens.

DATES: Tuesdays, June 21 & 28, July 5, 12, 19, & 26, August 2 & 9, 11-11:45am.

How to participate: • Mentor young readers in Burlington: Be a Reading Buddy at Fletcher Free this summer! Help elementary students in Burlington discover the joy of reading! Create positive connections through conversation, games and activities, reading stories aloud, and sharing your favorite children’s books. Come to Fletcher Free for fantastic and free teen programming, including Bubble Soccer, teen Quidditch, improv challenges, and more! • Cultivate healthy reading habits and lifestyle choices! Author Talk, Writing Workshop, & Pizza with Dayna Lorentz co-sponsored by Phoenix Books: What happens when four teens and hundreds of shoppers are trapped in a mall with a biological bomb? Danya Lorentz, author of No Safety in Numbers trilogy will leave you sweating and plotting your escape from futuristic demise. Join us after the author talk for a breakout writing workshop, where you’ll generate new ideas and work to take with you. Round off the afternoon with pizza and further conversation with Dayna and friends!
