Please Note that in order to fulfil the require-

ments of Fair Trading and the rules of incorpo-ration, we should have a full board. This in-cludes, according to our constitution, a Presi-dent Elect (to be President in 2015-16). Hence we are looking immediately for a nomination for this position. And while we are about it, why not a President Nominee ie for 2016-17?

Guest Speakers - Jesse Doolan, Stephen Sanders & James Moffat

Special guests at this week’s Rotary club meeting were Coonabarabran High school teacher James Moffat

and students Jesse Doolan and Stephen Sanders. James accompanied the two boys to Inverell in May to

participate in the Model United Nations Assembly, and Jesse and Stephen gave a report on their experi-

ences, accompanied by a presentation of photographs taken at the event.

Representing North Korea, the boys certainly made an impact on the Assembly, lauding at every opportunity

their ‘Great and Glorious leader Kim Jong Il’, and threatening everyone with nuclear action if their ideas were

not accepted! They certainly had a clear concept of North Korea’s world position, and the boys were re-

warded with the ‘Most Humorous Team’ award.

Also in attendance from Coonabarabran were Sarah Hincks and Jenna Cormie who, accompanied by

teacher Jenny Sullivan, represented the Ukraine. They went to a great deal of effort with their costume and

looked quite beautiful. In May, there was a lot of action in the Ukraine, so it was a perfect time in history for

the girls to be representing their political position in a world assembly. Unfortunately, Sarah and Jenna were

unable to attend our meeting.

The Model United Nations Assembly, known in Rotary by its acronym MUNA, is designed to give young peo-

ple an understanding of how the world organisation

works, an opportunity to research many of the cru-

cial issues of the time, and to speak persuasively,

taking the political position expected of their nation.

It is also a great opportunity to meet with students

from across the district, and to share a great deal of

fun as well. Our club thanks James and Jenny for

being prepared to transport the students to Inverell

and providing care and supervision over the week-

end.

Happy

Birthday

John!
