ence and brought along some programs and website details for us to review. It should be a very good conference.

Owen Douglas our Youth Director introduced our three presenters for the evening.

RYLA Camp has received a plaque from the RYLA Committee.

Akin's Presentation:

Akin had created a power point presentation to work through during his talk. Akin welcomed all of the guests and he was going to talk about his country and his life. Akin mentioned that he has learnt English in the past 7 months. Akin mentioned that he is the youngest in his family. He used to play soccer when he was younger but he had injured his big toe and had an operation. He has had to leave the sport of soccer. He has started to play guitar and has been playing for 3 years and has a band with his friends=ds and gives concerts in his school. He has been learning to play the bagpipes and will play on Anzac Day which will be very unique. Akin has a brother and mum dad. Akin gave us a brief history of Turkey and also the population. The national language is only Turkish. Akin showed a video of Turkey showing how diverse the country is. Akin mentioned that Turkey is a Muslim country but they are quite relaxed in their lifestyle and they do drink alcohol. Akin touched on the subject about food and has criticised some of our Turkish food especially the kebab. The Turkish coffee is very strong and President Norm found he couldn't sleep for two days. Baklava is Akins favourite sweet and he is used to the wonderful breakfast which he showed us. He mentioned his first breakfast in Australia was Cornflakes and he was very disappointed about that. We had a good laugh.

Gallipoli: Akin wanted to explain the friendship of Gallipoli where all of the men on both sides were he-roes as they both shared their blood and their lives. He explained that the dead are lying in peace in their country as there is no difference between both sides of the conflict. They are heroes in this country of theirs, and the mothers that sent their sons from their countries, wipe away your tears as they are now lying in their bosom and are in peace. With giving their lives in Turkey they have become their sons

as well. He sees a lot of Australian people come to Turkey for Anzac Day and hopes there will never be another horrible war. Akin Thanked everyone for listening to him.

Anson's Presentation:

Anson also had a power point to follow his talk. Anson welcomed all of the guests and explained he comes from the Rotary Club of Taipei and thanked our club for giving him the opportunity of coming here.

Who am I, Me.... Sorry I cannot give you his Chinese Name.

He is 16 and comes from Taipei Taiwan and started in a vocational high school and likes to make friends. He wanted to become and exchange student to learn and see different places of other coun-tries and their cultures. His family comprises of mum and dad and also has an older sister who is a little bit strict like his mum and his little sister is like his friend but is also a little strict so mum number three. Also has his Gran and Grandad who he likes very much. Anson majors in refrigeration and air conditioning and learns some perfect knowledge and how to fix it. He wants to attend university and continue studying this subject. He has a chess club but it is a very different game. He showed us the flag and the population is 23 millions in a small island. Anson loves his food and explained that you can buy anything that you can imagine. His favourite is Food.... We know lol. In the New Year every-one gives people little packets of money for good luck and it helps to get more money with lots of luck. They always say something to bless people with the gift of money..... But this year he did not receive any money...... We have found that Anson has really come out of his shell and he really gave us a laugh the way he put this. About $600 Taiwan money is all gone so he is very sad...... and explained that they area always optimistic so is waiting to receive some money...... a very big hit to his past and current host families..... Thank You.

Owen mentioned how good his talk was and pointed out the Anson loves food and sleep.

Tristan's Presentation:

Tristan gave us his talk on his stay in Denmark last year. Unfortunately the recording didn't come out to well as he didn't use the microphone but Tristan explained what a wonderful time he had over there with his Host family. They showed him many places in Denmark and he met many friends over there that will carry on for many years.

Learning to speak a new language was a real challenge but he overcame this and there was another exchange student from Argentina so they stuck together and worked through it. The winter holidays were great. It was a really fantastic experience with all of the host families. He had certainly travelled widely across Europe which was a great experience for him. He has been a very lucky boy to have had such a great experience.

Tristan presented two bottles of wine to President Norm and Owen Douglas with his thanks for allow-ing him to travel to Denmark.

Paul Conti: gave the vote of thanks to the 3 presenters for their talks. He said it was great to see

how Anson's and Akin's English has improved in such a short space of time.

President Norm thanked all of the guests that came to the meeting for the presentations.

Re-Establishment of Rotary Club of Port Hedland

The district is planning to re establish the Rotary Club of Port Hedland. Whilst the initial work will be done by Rotarians from Perth, before we can really get started, we need to find a Rotarian or ex Rotarian who is living in the town or who is a regular fly in fly out person.

Do you, or any of your club members know of such a person?

There is no need to contact them.

If we know who they are we can contact them and discuss how they may be able to assist us.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you in anticipation.
