The Shepherds and members of Central welcome you to our Sunday Worship Service. We hope that you feel the warmth and love of a congregation that is striving to serve God and share His love in our community. At Central we want to be about two important things; Passion for God and compassion for people. We do this by honoring God as we obey the Bible and by serving others with the same heart of Jesus.

A Little Laughter for The Soul And The Word “Expert”

Someone has said that “Laughter is good for the soul”, and that proverbial saying still holds true today. A few days ago, while looking for a good definition for the word “expert” (there are about as many definitions as there are people), I came across the following humorous definition: The word “expert” is formed from the conjunction of two roots which phonetically can be represented as “x” and “spurt.” Everyone knows that “X” is an unknown quantity. A “spurt” is what one gets from squeezing a drop of water. Therefore, an expert is an unknown drip under pressure. After laughing for a few moments, I thought this definition was about as good as I’d ever seen. So, the next time we hear from the news media about a so-called “expert,” we’ll know exactly what kind of knowledgeable guy he really is! Have a great day and may God bless!

CENTRAL’S UPCOMING EVENTS

LADIES BIBLE CLASS: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22nd The class will be studying Chapter 22 of Psalms, with Class participation on Psalms chapters 13; 16; 88 & 143. Class begins at 10:00am every Wednesday at the Church Building. We encourage all Ladies to attend, as this is a great way to grow stronger in the word of God.

FELLOWSHIP MEAL: SUNDAY, JANUARY 26TH Following the morning worship service, we will have our first Fellowship meal of the new year. Bring a dish or dishes with enough to share, so everyone gets to taste your delicious cooking! Start asking you family and friends now to join us.

VALENTINES DINNER: SUNDAY, FEB. 16TH – 7:15pm Everyone is invited to attend our annual Valentines day dinner here at the Church Building, following the evening worship service. The MEN will be cooking and cleaning up, so Ladies you can sit back and enjoy the evening. A sign-up sheet in on the table in the lobby for those who will be attending.

CENTRAL FLORIDA COMBINED WORSHIP SERVICE: JAN. 26TH 5:30PM Everyone is invited to attend the “One Family” worship service Sunday evening, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, at The Mount Dora Christian Academy. Brother Mike Baker, from Concord Street will be the Guest Speaker.

LADIES DAY: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1ST The Sebring Parkway Church will hold their annual Ladies Day from 8:30 till Noon on Saturday, Feb. 1st. Lunch will be served following the event. The topic is “Let Your Light Shine”

BOYD SCHOLARSHIP DINNER: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8th The annual Boyd Scholarship dinner will be held at 6:00pm in the Brackett Gymnasium at the Mt. Dora Christian Academy. Tickets are free, and there will be a catered dinner and Quilt & Item Auction. Please see Jerry Starling for Tickets.
