Political stability and peace over the years enabled Kenya to make great strides towards development – a key factor in a growing economy such as Kenya
CONFLICT AND PEACE IN KENYA
After the General elections that were held in December 2007, Countrywide violence broke out following the disputed presidential results with the following impacts:

BUILDING AFTER THE VIOLENCE
• Although most of the direct violence ceased, continuing mistrust and tension was apparent.
• Peace was rebuilt through a high level engagement dialogue and reconciliation process led by the former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan
• A peace accord was then signed, to return the country to normalcy

SPORTS FOR PEACE AND
DEVELOPMENT
•The potential of sports to mobilize communities towards the greater good has been recognized.
•Sports promotes co-operation/ sharing, tolerance, respect, discipline and fair play, which are important elements of peace

ENVIRONMENT AND PEACE
•Environmental problems like resource scarcity and climate change cause conflict
•Environmental conservation initiatives that promote sustainable development, are key towards promoting meaningful peace in the world
RELIGION AND PEACE
Cultural beliefs are typically related to religious beliefs. For example, the identity of a person or group is shaped by religious values, beliefs, and affiliation. Religious dialogue, can promote understanding and peace among religions and people.

EDUCATION AND PEACE
• One of the goals of education is to promote peace,harmony and co-existence between people.It inculcates the skills and behaviors to live in harmony with oneself,with others and with the natural environment.
MUSIC AND DANCE
• Songs and dances exist in human societies all over the world as a means of sharing emotions and transmuting them.
• Singing harmonises differences and builds bridges.Singing gives out the important message of peace.
• In Kenya,we have icons like Eric Wainaina who sing to promote peace in the country.
FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND TRADE
• Foreign affairs creates and promotes peace among countries through trade unions such as the African union and COMESA.
• When countries trade together,a natural balance of peace is created to enhance the trade.
EQUALITY FAIRNESS AND JUSTICE
• Social justice is an underlying principle for peaceful and prosperous co-existence within and among nations.
• We advance social justice when we remove barriers that people face because of gender,age,race,ethnicity,religion,culture or disability.
CONCLUSION
•Peace and order is essential in maintaining economic development, social order and political stability.
•A condition of peace and order facilitates the growth of investments and generates more employment opportunities
