Manythingscanspeedupagingincludingadiethighinfatsandwhitesugar/carbohydrates,notgettingenoughexercise,lackofsleepandtoomuchexposuretothesun,butstressisnumberone!
Alittlebitofstressisnotalwaysbad,itwakesusupandmakesusalert.Welearnbettersometimeswhenwehavealittlebitofstress.Thedangerofagingcomeswhenwehaveprolongedstressanddon’tknowhowtocounteractthenegativestresses.
Astressresponsestartsinthepituitaryglandandhypothalamus,whichiscalledthemind-bodyconnection,orwherethebrainandbodyintersect.Whenthehypothalamusandpituitaryarestimulated,theyactivate theadrenalgland,whichreleaseschemicals into thebody that rev the body for a “fight or flight” action. When your body getsstressed,suchasintimesofemotionaldistress,exercise,surgery,illness,orevendailyliving,hormonesareproducedbytheadrenalglandscalledGlucocorticoids,oneofthembeingCortisol.Prolongedadrenalstimulationwilleventuallyleadtoadrenalfatigue,aconditionIspeakmoreindepthaboutonmywebsite.
