the job creation potential for Indian Agriculture and
Healthcare Sector through adoption of IoT & AI
❖ BIF partnered with Aeris Communications, TCIL, IITH, and the

Healthcare to organise a Conference to bring out the positive

❖ BIF celebrated the World Telecommunication & Information Society Day (WTISD 2020) by organizing a virtual conference
on the theme “Connect 2030: ICTs for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” on Friday, 15th May 2020 at 1130 hrs
under The Digital Dialogues series, a signature digital platform created by BIF. The session included esteemed
International and National Speakers such as Mr. Mats Granryd, Director General, GSMA; Shri Hari Ranjan Rao, JST,
DoT, GoI; Dr. Malcolm Johnson, Deputy Secretary General, ITU; and Dr. R.S. Sharma, Chairman, TRAI

INDIA SATCOM❖ BIF is majorly involved in regulatory and policy activities
related to Satcom Sector
❖ Five Editions of International Satcom Summit have been
organized since 2015. The Summits have been graced by
Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Minister of State for Telecom, Dr.
R S Sharma, Chairman, TRAI, Smt. Aruna Sundararajan,
Secretary, DoT and Shri Rakesh Sasibhushan, CMD, Antrix.
The Summits of 2016 & 2018 have had the blessing of the
Secretary, Dept. of Space ( DOS) & Chairman, ISRO. All
these Summits also saw participation of domestic and
international delegates from global satellite service
operators, global inflight connectivity firms as well as top
VSAT operators in India
❖ White Papers have been launched each year
recommending the regulatory and policy interventions
required for the growth of the sector
❖ The key highlight in the last three editions have been the
CTO roundtable that gives opportunity to senior leadership
of the industry to present their views to DoT

COMMUNICATIONS POLICY (NDCP) Continuous engagement with DoT and
TRAI over 12-14 months01
Recommendations in form of high level policy statements – actionable and
measurable developed through a bottom-up multi-stakeholder process
Broken into 5 capsules mapped onto various DoT Working Groups and detailed input
submitted for 10 DoT Working Groups out of 12 in sessions held over a week’s time
Followed by a detailed explanatory memorandum
BIF welcomes the New NDCP, issued in September 2018, aimed at
making India a prospering Digital Economy. BIF’s GPR Working
