Photography Zine

Brief:

Propose a series of photography zines containing images taken on vari-ous excursions around Europe.

Background:

Over the last two Summers I have collected a significant number of photographs taken at various places. It seemed as good a time as any to begin collating and organising these into personal publications, poten-tially to distribute depending on interest.

Requirements:

The images used must be somewhat intriguing and contain something out of the ordinary, in order to produce a publication that is elevated beyond the context of family and friends. Abstract and quirky images often depict a more interesting story than standard photographs.

Cover Design

Each cover will be individually created by hand, so that every copy would be unique to a certain degree. This pro-vides the opportunity to explore hand-lettering style to a great extent.

Spreads

After experimenting with many layout ideas, it became evi-dent that the most effective solution was to retain a consist-ent positioning system in order to display the images with the greatest level of clarity.

Throughout, the images are set in monochrome in order to bring a timeless edge to the collection of photographs.
