The original Bootle F.C. were formed in 1880 and played at HawthorneRoad. They were in fact Everton FC’s biggest rivals. In 1889–90 Bootlebecame founder members of the Football Alliance, narrowly missing outon the football league to the blues. That season was the mostsuccessful as we finished league runners-up, reached the quarter-finalsof the FA Cup, where we lost to Blackburn Rovers (0-7). When theAlliance merged with the Football League in 1892, Bootle becamefounder members of the new Second Division. However, despite arespectable 8th place final position, the club dropped out after oneseason (and were replaced by neighbours Liverpool) and seeminglydisappeared due to financial problems.
Football returned to Hawthorne Road when a new club, Bootle Athletic.was later formed with the new team initially playing in the LiverpoolLeagues. In 1948 when the club were elected to the LancashireCombination 2, which was won at the first attempt. However, Bootlestruggled in the top-flight and after several tough seasons withdrew andfolded during the 1953–54 campaign.
In 1953, the current club was formed as Langton and played in the localleagues. After a very successful spell in the Liverpool CountyCombination (which we won on numerous occasions) the club revertedback to it’s It’s better known identity of Bootle F.C. in 1973; and a yearlater joined the Lancashire Combination, which we won in 1976 and1977. Bootle then joined the Second Division of the Cheshire CountyLeague, which was won in our first season, and we were promoted tothe First Division. In 1982 the Cheshire County League was one of theleagues that merged to form the North West Counties League, whichBootle duly joined, becoming a member of the First Division. The clubspent most of their time in the First Division until 2000 when weunfortunately dropped into the Second Division. However, despitefinishing 6th in 2002, the club dropped into the Liverpool CountyCombination. In 2006 the club, with a new ground, were elected backinto Division 2 of the North West Counties League. In 2009 Bootle wonpromotion to the NWCL Premier Division and also won theChampionship. In 2009/10, our first season back in the NWCFL PremierDivision Bootle finished a NWCFL highest placing of 3rd. In 2010/11finished 6th place. They equalled the 3rd place again in 2012.
2013 saw Bootle come so close to promotion, narrowly missing out withthree games to go, and eventually finishing 3rd again. However they putthat disappointment aside to win the Liverpool Senior Cup for the firsttime in 124 years.
Good afternoon and welcome to the Delta Taxisstadium for today’s Northwest Counties LeaguePremier Division fixture, and we welcome ourvisitors today, Wigan Robin Park.
We are currently in an unusual position for our club aswe are on a bad run of results. We all know that thelast two results, against Squires Gate and St Helensare totally unacceptable. Those results were on theback of the two Worksop games as well as the draw away to Maine Road.
The Maine Road game took a lot out of us as we probably deserved to win thegame and since then confidence seems to have drained from the team.
After last Saturday’s game the squad had a long chat in the dressing room, where everyone had their opinion and aspects have been taken on board. Allthe cards were put on the table and we all remain positive.
Our season will start today, and we will be up there at the end of the seasonchallenging for the league and the remaining three cup competitions.
We played a behind closed doors friendly with Vauxhall Motors on Tuesdaynight where we tried a few different things. The returning Helio Andre, who is fitagain will be a big plus when his suspension is over, and his commitment hasshown by him playing for the reserves to get his sharpness back.
We also welcome Georgie Robertson who has this week joined from CammellLairds and also Michael Roberts who has come in with a good pedigree behindhim; formerly of Liverpool and Chester.
I would like to wish James Speare all the best as he leaves the backroom staffand I would also like to welcome Neil Black who is my new assistant manager, replacing James Olsen who left a couple of weeks ago.
So there is a few changes but it remains that we all stay strong and supporteach other and keep the atmosphere positive.
Thank you for your continued support Princey

League Challenge Cup 1st round preview
Once again cup action is on the agenda for many of our clubs this weekend, with theopening ties in the First Round of the League Challenge Cup. As usual, the DivisionOne clubs enter at the First Round stage, and aside of Ashton Town who were thelucky ones to get a bye into the next round, the remaining 18 Division One clubs are allinvolved in First Round action. Some of the clubs involved have plenty of good pastmemories of the Cup, while for others it’s a brand new experience, none more so atthe Barton Stadium where 1874 Northwich and Hanley Town meet for the first time inany competition. Likewise, Widnes Vikings take their bow in the competition atRochdale Town, with the home side out for revenge after a 3-1 defeat in the League atthe Select Security Stadium back in August.
Formby were beaten finalists last season and are the only past winners of the Cup inaction in Saturday, and their home game against fellow promotion chasers Nelson isone of the eye catching ties of the round. Atherton LR host AFC Darwen at Crilly Park, and while the old Darwen FC were the first ever winners of the League Challenge Cupin 1982-83, the present day AFC Darwen will be looking to make their own history inthe competition, while being mindful that they lost 3-1 at home to LR in the leagueback in August.
Daisy Hill face Irlam at New Sirs, with Daisy looking for their first victory over theiropponents since a 3-0 win in March 2010. Leek CSOB make the long trip up to faceHolker Old Boys, and the Old Boys will be hoping that lightning can strike in the sameplace twice, as the teams met in an identical fixture at the same stage of thecompetition in 2011, and the visitors made the journey worthwhile with a 4-0 win.
There are two games where the side drawn out first has had to give up homeadvantage - Northwich Flixton Villa will now travel to Eccleshall, and the derby clashbetween Oldham Boro and Chadderton will be played at the MCA AccountancyStadium. Atherton Collieries will host Cheadle Town next Wednesday, 9th October.
It should be remembered that if any of the ties finish level after 90 minutes, then afurther 30 minutes of extra time is played. If the scores are still level after extra time, the game then goes to a replay as per Challenge Cup Rule 7. Replays will bescheduled for week commencing 7th October, and any League games arranged forthat week will be postponed if clubs are involved in replays.
Good luck to Formby, who are our only local club in league cup action today.

History: Wigan Robin Park Football Club was founded in 2005 and startedplaying in the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester Football League, which is a feeder league for the North West Counties. All the players werelocal lads and in our first season we made good progress in the LancashireShield and Wigan Cup. The team reached the Lancashire Shield QuarterFinal upstaged by BAE Systems Barrow on penalties and was sitting 7th inthe table. In addition the team was unlucky to lose in the semi-final of theWigan Cup but their seasons efforts were rewarded with an appearance inthe final of the Murray Shield. Unfortunately falling short on penalties toWalshaw Sports but the benchmark for things to come had been set
The inaugural season’s achievements continued into the start of the2006/07 season with a number of new players joining the club. The teammoved into fourth in the table a position they maintained throughout theseason. The Robins showed consistency in cup competitions as the teamprogressed to the semi-final stage losing narrowly to Winstanley St Aidenswith a 1-0 scoreline. From that point the team then went on a remarkableleague run which saw them go all the way to the end of the seasonundefeated. The aim of the club is to compete and the highest level and thiswas achieved with promotion to the Manchester Premier Division.
If we were going to prepare correctly we needed to strengthen the club with

the introduction of a reserve team for 2007/08 to compete successfully in theManchester Premier League. Any Premier division at any level will be hard and apoor start to the campaign did not help, however once the team had becomeaccustomed to the level and speed of the premier division the team then turned thecorner and went on an excellent run which saw them lose just once in 24 games inall competitions resulting in final appearances in the Gilgryst Cup and the LancashireShield. With the season coming to an end a big push was needed, following anothergood run the team lose just once in 13 games and Wigan Robin Park claimed thePremier league title in their first attempt which many teams have tried to achieve foryears.
In the inaugural season in the NWCFL good progress was made winning 7 drawing 3 andlosing 2 in our opening 12 fixtures. The highlights being the first team to defeat titlecontenders AFC Liverpool in front of the highest home crowd of 603 at Valerie Park. TheVodkat Challenge Cup paired us against Premier division outfit Bacup Borough andwould give us a taste and appetite for the Premier division having narrowly losing outafter a reply. The team stayed in the top five most of the season including top spot onvarious occasion, eventually finishing in fifth position.
Season 2009/10 proved to be a learning curve as the Robins finished the season intwelfth place. Although rocked by the departure of some senior players - to clubs furtherup the pyramid preseason - the club managed to bring in some quality young playerswho started the season well. However a succession of injuries that decimated the squadsaw the team slip to mid-table during the second half of the season.
In 2010/11 the team started the season like a house on fire and were rewarded with aplace towards the top of the table in the run up to Christmas. Unfortunately they wereunable to continue this form and finished the season in eighth place. The Robinshowever did reach the quarter-finals of the First Division Trophy and League ChallengeCup. Meanwhile the reserves had a fine season finishing sixth in the North WestCounties Reserve Division.
In 2011/12 the first team, managed by John Neafcy won the First Division Championshipwhile the reserve team won the Reserve Division. Meanwhile a combined side managedby Assistant First Team Manager Jay Foulds and Reserve Team boss Ian Granite liftedthe prestigious Wigan Cup beating local rivals Ashton Athletic in the final.
In other cup competitions the club were runners up after an exciting final that went toextra time to league title rivals Norton United in the First Division Trophy while Evo StickNorthern Premier League giants Chorley defeated the Robins in the semi-final of theLancashire Challenge Trophy before a large crowd at the County Ground at Leyland.
The momentous 2011/12 season was rounded off when the club picked up the DivisionOne programme of the year award at the NWCFL’s annual dinner.
The Club targeted the 2012/13 season as one of consolidation as they plied their tradefor the first time in the NWCFL Premier Division the highest level at which the club hascompeted in during their short history and finished a creditable 12 position.

Bootle End Myerscough’s100% startBootle ended the West LancashireLeague's only remaining 100% record bydefeating Myerscough College 2-1 at theDelta Taxis Stadium.
In a game played in atrocious conditions,Bootle took the initiative in the secondperiod after a cautious opening 45 minutes saw the score locked at 0-0at half time.
Strikes from debutant Cain Goulding and John Cheetham earned Bootlea deserved victory. The away side replied with 3 minutes remaining, leaving a tense final few minutes for Bootle to negotiate.
Under 18’s Bow out of Youth Cup after closeencounterDespite being two goals up, Bootle FC’s Liverpool County PremierLeague Under 18’s side bowed out of this years FA Youth Cup, beaten3-2 after a late late fight back from Vauxhall Motors.
Goals from Matty Mason and Jack Driver looked to have given theundefeated Bucks a safe passage into the next round and with over 100spectators in attendance few would have predicted the late turnaround.
Congratulations and good luck to Vauxhall Motors who visit Altrinham inthe next round of the competition.
