“readers” are no more

passive: they can be

involved in the creative

process.

whether they are good

“author” or not

In 2000, in some science fiction forums appears john titor. he

claims to be a soldier coming from 2036 with a time machine to

save the world. his character is so consistent and credible that

other users start to ask him questions about life in the future

did they believe him?

talking with him they contribute to the credibility

Page 18: Books and Interfaces

we are surrounded by unprofessional storytellers and

they are crazy to live and tell stories

interfaces allow them to express themselves

in a short, quick, easy way (like in the social networks)

Page 19: Books and Interfaces

the Twitter status makes us get used to summarize our feelings and events in one

sentence (140 characters)

Page 20: Books and Interfaces

daily fragments make

long stories

Page 21: Books and Interfaces

or shorter stories

;)

Page 22: Books and Interfaces

why we (teachers)

have to deal with

interfaces?

Page 23: Books and Interfaces

we have to face a brand new way

to deal with stories.

readers are changing

“readers” are busy

Page 26: Books and Interfaces

in the long run a medium’s

content matter less than the

medium itself in influencing how

we think and act.

Think, Read and Remember

Page 27: Books and Interfaces

“readers” are

immersed in a

faster,

wider,

and more

complicated world

Page 28: Books and Interfaces

“readers” want to be part of a creative process

Page 29: Books and Interfaces

books are not dead, nor

dying, or ever will die

but they are no more alone

in collecting, sharing and

conserving stories

New opportunities will come to pass only if control of the technology is taken from the technologist and given to those who

understand human beings, human interaction, communication, pleasure and pain. It is time for engineers to go back to engineering. To develop these

new technologies, we need a new breed of creative individuals, most likely those

associated with poetry, writing, and theatrical direction
