FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY / LIBRARY NEWS

Friends of the Library Book SaleThe Friends of the Addison Public Library are hosting their Annual Book Sale on Sat., Apr. 5, from 10:00–3:00. In addition to a wide selection of titles, the book prices are very reasonable: hardcovers & trade paper-backs for $1, paperbacks for 25¢, children’s hardcovers for 50¢, and children’s paper-backs for 25¢. Beat that, Half Price Books!

The Friends still need gently used books for their sales. Bring donations to the Friends’ book bin by the Continuous Book Sale shelves. Large donations should be brought to the Ask Here desk in the Children’s Li-brary. No textbooks, magazines, Reader’s Digest books, encyclopedias, discs, tapes, or damaged materials are accepted.

Join the Friends!Through their fundraising activities, the Friends of the Addison Library donate funds to the library for special programs and needs. The many projects the Friends spon-sored this year included re-covering chairs and purchasing summer reading prizes. If you would like to become a member of the Friends of the Library and support the Addi-son Public Library, contact the library’s liai-son, Mary Marshall, at 630.458.3332.

New FacesWe’re pleased to welcome two new shelvers, ,IZTMVM IVL 6IVKa \W \PM TQJZIZa¼[ [\IٺThey are replacing Isabel—who will now be working the Guest Services desk—and Marilyn (now our Interlibrary Loan Clerk). Marilyn replaces Trish, who will now work the Adult Services desk, taking the place of Anne, who recently retired after years of ser-vice to the library. What a winter it’s been!

Paws to Read

We’re excited to begin planning for our summer reading program this year, Paws to Read. Activities in the Children’s Library will revolve around cats, dogs, and other pawed companions. Teens and adults will have summer reading programs as well! Summer reading starts Jun. 7.

Kiwanis Club Pancake BreakfastThe library will be helping the Kiwanis Club at their annual Pancake Breakfast this year. It’s at the Park District’s Community Park center on Sat., Apr. 12 at 8:00 am, the same day as the Park District’s Easter egg hunt. See you there!

Introducing MyPCOur new computer management system lets users log onto our PCs without a pass-word. More impressively, it lets people who set up their own devices (desktops, laptops, and even phones and tablets) print to library printers from anywhere—even home! All you need is an Internet connection.

Lutherbrook Student ArtworkWe’re once again proud to host the artwork of Lutherbrook students on our Art Wall. Check them out during the month of March!
