mENSAGEm DA FuNDAÇÃo ESTuDAr

É com grande satisfação que apresentamos a turma de bol-

sistas 2010 da Fundação Estudar. Esses 35 jovens de poten-

cial foram selecionados entre mais de 5 mil inscritos em nos-

so processo seletivo, que se baseia na condição meritocrática

para reconhecer excelência acadêmica, determinação, capa-

cidade de realização, ética e potencial de liderança.

Além de uma bolsa de estudos para as melhores univer-

sidades do Brasil e do exterior, eles receberão o apoio da

Fundação Estudar ao longo de toda sua carreira. Por meio

de programas das frentes de Carreiras e Networking, terão

acesso a orientação profissional, cursos e workshops com

profissionais que são referência em suas áreas, além de

uma série de oportunidades de autodesenvolvimento.

A Fundação Estudar tem como objetivo final contribuir com

o país por meio do incentivo e preparação de pessoas com

potencial de gerar grande impacto positivo para a sociedade.

Acreditamos que esses jovens já estão mudando suas vidas

it is a great satisfaction to introduce you the 2010 team

of scholars from Fundação Estudar. these 35 young people

with high potential were selected from a group of a 5 000

students in our selection process, that meets meritocratic

conditions to recognize academic excellence, ethics, abili-

ties to execute, commitment and leadership potential.

in addition to a scholarship in the best universities in Brazil

and abroad, they will receive Fundação Estudar’s support

along their whole careers. our Careers and Networking activi-

ties will provide them professional orientation, courses and

workshops with people that are reference in different fields, as

well as series of opportunities of self-development.

Fundação Estudar sets as its final goal contributing to the

country by training and offering incentives to exceptional

people with the potential to impact positively the society.

We believe that the youth we engage with have already

Em 2010 foram aprovados 24 novos bolsistas de graduação, sendo 13

deles estudantes de universidades brasileiras

e nove estudantes de instituições no exterior. Eles têm em média 19

anos, 46% freqüentam universidades públicas e

67% cursam Engenharia.

in 2010, 24 new undergraduate scholars have been approved, being

13 students from universities in Brazil and nine students from

institutions abroad. they are 19 years old in average, 46% attend

public universities and 67% are studying Engineering.


cAio hENriquES lo BiANco17 anoseconomia Fgv – rio

Caio é natural do rio de Janei-ro (rJ). Cursou o Ensino Funda-mental no Colégio Andrews e o Ensino Médio no Colégio de Apli-cação da UFrJ (CAp da UFrJ). No fim de 2009, prestou vestibular para ibmec rio, FGv rio, PUC rio e UFrJ, sendo aprovado em todas elas. Desde os noves anos de idade Caio é membro do CiSv, organização global infanto-juve-nil que estimula liderança, tra-balho em equipe e diversidade cultural com crianças e jovens do mundo todo. Caio também se envolveu com uma série de atividades extracurriculares no Cap, durante o Ensino Médio. Estagiou no departamento de Serviço Social da UFrJ, onde fa-zia leitura e resumos de textos de diversas áreas da Universi-dade e, ao fim do programa, de-senvolveu e apresentou um tra-balho sobre o tema na Jornada de iniciação Científica da UFrJ de 2008. Participou da olim-píada Brasileira de Matemática das Escolas Públicas (oBMEP), obteve menções honrosas no 1º e 2º ano e, dado o desempenho de destaque, ganhou bolsa do CNPq durante o Ensino Médio.

caio henriques Lo Bian-co, 17, economy, FGv, rio

Caio is from rio de Janeiro (rJ). He attended junior high school at Colégio Andrews and high school at Colégio de Aplicação of UFrJ (CAp UFrJ). in late 2009, he took the uni-versity admission exams for ibmec rio, FGv rio, PUC rio and UFrJ, being approved in all of them. Since the age of nine Caio is a member of CiSv, a youth global organization that stimulates leadership, teamwork and cultural diver-sity with children and youth worldwide. Caio was also in-volved with a number of ex-tracurricular activities in the Cap during high school. Was a intern in the Department of Social Services of UFrJ, where he read and made summa-ries of texts from different areas of the University and at the end of the program, wrote and presented a paper about the theme on the Jour-ney of Scientific initiation of UFrJ in 2008. Participated in the Brazilian Mathematics olympics of Public Schools (oBMEP), received honorable mentions in the 1st and 2nd year and, given the outstand-ing performance, he won a scholarship from CNPq during the high school.


cAroliNA FErrEirA DoS rEiS21 anosengenharia de Fortificação e construçãoime

Carolina é natural do rio de Ja-neiro (rJ), onde sempre viveu com os pais. Cursou o Ensino Fundamental no Colégio Cene-cista e o Ensino Médio no Colégio Militar do rio de Janeiro (CMrJ), no qual foi aprovada em 4º lugar no concurso de admissão. No CMrJ, Carolina foi da infantaria e membro da Legião de Honra do Colégio. iniciou a graduação no iME em 2008, como militar, e lá cumpre a grade militar com diversos treinamentos de cam-po. No iME, Carolina também é bolsista em uma pesquisa so-bre Modelagem Matemática de Aquíferos, no departamento de Águas e Hidrologia, onde estuda o comportamento de poluentes com o objetivo de prevenir da-nos em casos de vazamento de substâncias químicas no solo. Carolina dá aulas voluntárias de Física no curso pré -vestibular comunitário gerido por alunos do iME e, nesse ano, está se can-didatando a uma vaga na iME Jr., empresa júnior do iME.

Carolina is from rio de Janeiro (rJ) where she has always lived with her parents. She at-tended junior high school at Colégio Cenecista and high school at Colégio Militar do rio de Janeiro (CMrJ), in which she was approved in 4th place in the admission exams. in CMrJ Carolina was from the infantry and member of the Legion of Honor of the School.She began her undergradu-ate studies at iME in 2008 as military, and there she follows the military curriculum with several field training. At iME, Carolina is also a scholar in a research on Aquifers Math-ematical Modeling in the De-partment of Water and Hy-drology, where she studies the behavior of pollutants in order to prevent damage in case of chemicals leakage into the soil. Carolina teaches Physics as a volunteer in the commu-nitarian preparatory course for the university admission exams run by the students from iME and this year, she is applying for a position at iME Jr., the junior company iME.


DiEGo ANTôNio morEirA22 anosengenharia elétricausP (duplo diploma - École centrale de nantes)

Diego é natural de São José dos Campos (SP), onde cursou o Ensino Fundamental em escola pública. Em 2002, foi aprova-do nos concursos do colégio da Embraer e da EtEP. optou pela EtEP, onde cursou o técnico em eletrônica com bolsa integral. Durante o técnico, participou da ExpoEtEP (feira de exposi-ções dos projetos dos alunos), conquistando o prêmio de me-lhor projeto. Aos fins de sema-na, na escola em que estudou durante o Ensino Fundamental, Diego preparava os alunos para os processos seletivos das me-lhors escolas do Ensino Médio. Em 2004, recebeu medalha de Prata na olimpíada Brasileira de Astronomia. Durante o ano de 2006, Diego trabalhou na área de manutenção da Philips como estagiário técnico, e, no ano se-guinte, cursou pré-vestibular no CoC com bolsa integral. No fim do ano prestou vestibular para itA, UNESP, USP e UNiCAMP, sendo aprovado nas três últimas em 1ª, 88ª e 11ª posições, res-pectivamente. Em 2007, iniciou a graduação na USP, onde fez parte da equipe de Guerra de ro-bôs. Nesse mesmo ano, iniciou sua participação em diversos projetos sociais vinculados ao Centro Cultural Sumaré.

Diego antônio Moreira, 22, electrical engineer-ing, usP (Double Degree - École centrale de nantes)

Diego was born in São José dos Campos (SP), where he attended junior high school in a public school. in late 2002, was approved in the admis-sion test to EtEP, where he earned a full scholarship to the high school with an Elec-tronics technician course. During the technical course, he participated on the Ex-poEtEP (an exhibition fair of student projects), winning the award for best project. on weekends, Diego taught preparatory courses for the selective processes for good high schools to the stu-dents of his former school. in 2004, he received the Silver medal at Brazilian As-tronomy olympics. During 2006, Diego worked in the maintenance department of Philips as a technical trainee, being officially hired due to his excellent performance. At the end of 2007, he took the university admission ex-ams for itA, UNESP, USP and UNiCAMP, being approved in the three. He chose USP, in which he was on the team of the Polytechnic School ro-bots War during his first year of studies. that same year, Diego engaged in different social projects at Centro Cul-tural Sumaré.

Diogo é natural de Salvador (BA) e sempre viveu em Feira de Santana (BA). Estudou no Colégio Genesis até o 2º ano do Ensino Médio e cursou o 3º ano em uma escola pública nos EUA. Em 2007, criou um site de utilidade pública para Feira de Santana. iniciou a graduação em Marketing na UNiFACS, du-rante a qual participou do desa-fio SEBrAE. Após seis meses de curso, transferiu-se para o curso de Administração, na mesma faculdade. Em 2008, Diogo par-ticipou do Google online Marke-ting Challenge (obteve resulta-dos entre os 10% melhores do mundo) desenvolvendo estra-tégias de divulgação online. Em 2009, mudou-se para São Paulo (SP) para estudar na ESPM, onde possui Cr acumulado de 9,4. Na ESPM, fundou a Liga de Empre-endedores (grupo de estudos so-bre empreendedorismo) e lide-rou um grupo no Mega Case da Procter & Gamble, que consistia em desenvolver um plano de ne-gócios para aumentar o market share da Duracell, conquistando a 2ª posição na classificação geral. No momento, Diogo está desenvolvendo a criação de uma de rede nano websites (site com conteúdo temático específico).

Diogo nascimento Pub-lio Pereira, 20, adminis-tration, esPM-sP

Diogo was born in Salvador (BA) and after one year, moved to Feira de Santana (BA), where he lived most of his life. He stud-ied at the College Genesis un-til the 2nd year of high school and finished the last year at a public high school in a town near Detroit (USA). in 2007, he created a public utility website for his city. He started Market-ing major at UNiFACS, in Sal-vador. there, he participated in the SEBrAE challenge and realized he wanted to learn tools of the Administration area. After six months, he changed major for Administra-tion at the same university. in 2008, Diogo participated in the Google online Marketing Chal-lenge (being among the top 10% of the world) developing online broadcasting strate-gies for regional entrepreneurs He was also part of the Junior Company of Administration. in 2009, he moved to São Paulo, to study at ESPM, where he has an accumulated Cr of 9.4 in the Administration course. At ESPM, he founded the League of Entrepreneurs and led a group at Mega Case of Procter & Gamble. Currently, Diogo is developing a project with the creation of a nano websites network (a type of website with very specific thematic content).


FilipE corrEiA lüBE23 anosengenharia de Fortificação e construçãoime

Filipe nasceu em Nova iguaçu (rJ). Cursou o Ensino Fundamental no Colégio tamandaré e o Ensino Médio no instituto Guanabara, no qual obteve bolsa integral por ter conquistado a primeira posição no concurso de admissão. Desde o primeiro ano participou da turma de alunos com melhor desempe-nho escolar do colégio. Sempre se saiu muito bem em Matemática, Física e Química, além de reali-zar vários esportes, como futsal, natação e taekwondo. Fez curso pré-vestibular no Curso roquette e após dois anos de estudo, foi aprovado no iME. Desde sua en-trada no iME, Filipe foi um dos alu-nos que se envolveram em iniciar uma série de mudanças na insti-tuição, para que estivesse mais perto do meio civil e possibilitasse aos alunos mais oportunidades de desenvolvimento profissional. Assim, foi um dos membros fun-dadores da iME Jr., empresa júnior do iME, em 2008, e futuramen-te assume a vice-presidência da organização. Filipe também faz parte da Comissão de integração, entidade que aproxima os alunos do iME das oportunidades do mer-cado de trabalho civil.

Filipe correia Lübe, 23, Fortification and construction engineering, iMe

Filipe was born in Nova iguaçu (rJ). He attended junior high school at Colégio tamandaré and high school at instituto Guanabara, in which he won a full scholarship by winning the first place in the admis-sion exams. He participated on the class of students with best academic performance in the school. Where he did very well in mathematics, physics and chemistry, besides car-rying out various sports such as indoor soccer, swimming and taekwondo. He studied university admission exams preparatory course at Curso roquette and after two years of study, was approved at iME. Since his admission at iME, Filipe was one of the students who were involved in initiating a series of changes in the in-stitution, so it would be closer to the civil environment which would provide the students more opportunities for pro-fessional development. thus he was a founding member of the iME Junior (iME Junior Company) in 2008 and after assumed the vice presidency of the organization. Filipe is also part of the integration Committee, an organization that approaches students from iME to the market oppor-tunities for civil work.


GuilhErmE c. DA cuNhA ciNTrA19 anoseconomiaPuc-rJ

Guilherme nasceu e sempre vi-veu no rio de Janeiro (rJ). Es-tudou no Colégio Santo inácio, onde concluiu o Ensino Médio entre os melhores alunos da tur-ma. Foi atleta federado de nata-ção pelo Flamengo por sete anos e envolveu-se em simulações das Nações Unidas (Mini oNU), além de ter tido uma atuação destacada no projeto Miniem-presa, da Junior Achievement. Guilherme foi o presidente da Mi-niempresa Cara Pálida S.A., que ganhou seis das sete principais premiações do projeto naquele ano, em competição com estu-dantes de todo o Estado do rio de Janeiro. Ao fim do colégio, foi aprovado no vestibular para o curso de Economia do ibmec rio, UFrJ e PUC rio. Escolheu a PUC rio, onde ingressou em 2009 e possui Cr acumulado de 9,5. Atualmente, Guilherme está ten-tando montar um projeto social, chamado Unindo Forças, cujo objetivo é incentivar o volunta-riado jovem. Além desse projeto, Guilherme ministra aulas de Ma-temática aos sábados no projeto Construindo o Saber para alunos de baixa renda, que estão sendo preparados para as provas de in-gresso a escolas técnicas além de receberem noções de cultura e cidadania.

Guilherme carneiro da cunha cintra, 19, eco-nomics, Puc-rJ

Guilherme was born and has always lived in rio de Janeiro (rJ). there, he studied at Colégio Santo inácio, where he concluded high school in 2008 as one of the best stu-dents in the class. He was a federated swimming athlete by Flamengo for seven years. He was also involved in simu-lations of UN meetings, in ad-dition to having a prominent role in the Minicompany proj-ect from the Junior Achieve-ment. Guilherme was the president of the Cara Pálida S.A/E Minicompany, which won six of seven major awards competing with students from all around the state of rio de Janeiro. After high school, he took the university admission exams for Economy at ibmec rio, UFrJ and PUC rio and was approved for all. He chose PUC and there he has an accu-mulated Cr of 9.5. Currently, Guilherme is trying to build a social project with some friends, called “Joining Forces” whose goal is to encourage youth volunteering. Besides this project, Guilherme teach-es math classes on Saturdays in the project “Building Knowl-edge” for a class of 30 low-income students, who are be-ing prepared for the technical schools admission exams in addition to receiving notions of culture and citizenship.


GuSTAvo NoGuEirA NóBrEGA21 anosengenharia de Fortificação e construçãoime

Gustavo é natural de teresina (Pi), mas passou a maior parte da vida em Fortaleza (CE). Cur-sou o Ensino Fundamental no Colégio Santo inácio e o Ensino Médio no Colégio Farias Bri-to. Dado o gosto por tecnolo-gia desde cedo, decidiu prestar vestibular para Engenharia. Fez um ano de cursinho no Farias Brito e foi aprovado para o iME, onde atualmente cursa o quar-to ano. Quando chegou ao iME, observando a rigidez do ambien-te militar, juntou-se ao grupo de alunos que tenta promover a aproximação da instituição junto à sociedade civil e ao mer-cado. Desse grupo, nasceram a iME Jr., empresa júnior do iME, a Comissão de integração, or-ganização que aproxima os alunos do iME com o mercado de trabalho, e o Ação iME, curso pré-vestibular comunitário. No final de 2007, assumiu a Dire-toria Jurídico/Financeira da iME Jr. para dar início à estruturação da empresa em assuntos legais, e ao fim de 2008 entrou para o Conselho Administrativo da iME Jr.. Atualmente, é um dos mem-bros da Comissão de integração, e responsável pelas parcerias para recrutamento e pelos even-tos ligados ao desenvolvimento de carreiras.

Gustavo nogueira nó-brega, 21, Fortification and construction engi-neering, iMe

Gustavo is from teresina (Pi), but spent most of his life in Fortaleza (CE). He attended junior high school at Colégio Santo inácio and high School at Colégio Farias Brito. Given the early taste for technology he decided to take the admis-sion exams for Engineering. took a year of preparatory course at Farias Brito and was approved for iME, where he currently attends the fourth grade. When he arrived at iME, noting the rigidity of the mili-tary environment he joined the student group that seeks to promote the institution’s ap-proach with the civil society and the market. From this group, it was created the iME Junior (the iME Junior Enter-prise), the integration Com-mittee (an organization that brings together students from iME with the working market) and the iME Action (university admission exams preparatory communitarian course). in late 2007, he assumed the Legal/Financial Board of iME Jr. to start structuring the company in legal matters, and at the end of 2008 he joined the Admin-istration Board of iME Jr. He is currently a member of the in-tegration Committee, and re-sponsible for partnerships and the recruitment events related to career development.


hENriquE miNoru N. DE FrEiTAS18 anosengenharia e economiaPrinceton

Henrique nasceu em São Paulo (SP), onde viveu durante a maior parte de sua vida e completou os estudos no Colégio Porto Se-guro. Nesta instituição, foi o 2º aluno com melhor desempenho acadêmico da turma. Durante as férias escolares, envolveu-se em atividades em Denver University, oxford e Stanford, participando de cursos que incluíam conteú-dos como Fisiologia e Macroeco-nomia. Além disso, realizou dois diferentes intercâmbios para a Alemanha, com o objetivo de ampliar seu conhecimento da língua e da cultura do país. Des-de 2008, Henrique é membro do National Society of High School Scholars (organização america-na que incentiva excelência aca-dêmica). Foi eleito Best Speaker no Congressional Workshop do Junior Statesmen of America (Stanford University, 2008) e recebeu menção honrosa como delegado dos Estados Unidos no Comitê de Desenvolvimen-to Sustentável no Porto oNU de 2009. Em 2009, foi aprovado no vestibular para Engenharia Mecatrônica na USP e Adminis-tração de Empresas na FGv, mas optou por estudar em Princeton pela possibilidade do double de-gree em Engenharia e Economia.

henrique Minoru na-kasse de Freitas, 18, en-gineering and economy, Princeton

Henrique was born in São Pau-lo (SP), where he lived during most of his life and completed his studies with a bilingual cur-riculum (Portuguese-German) at Colégio Porto Seguro. Dur-ing school holidays, he became involved in activities at Denver University, oxford and Stan-ford, participating in courses of Physiology and Macroeconom-ics. in addition, he held two dif-ferent exchanges to Germany with the aim of expanding his knowledge of language and culture. Since 2008, Henrique is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars (American organization that encourages academic excel-lence). He was elected the Best Speaker in the Congressional Workshop of Junior States-men of America (Stanford University, 2008) and received honorable mention as a U.S. delegate on the Committee of Sustainable Development in Porto UN in 2009. After high school, he was approved in the Mechatronics course at PoLi and Business Administration at FGv, but he preferred study-ing at Princeton, not only for the possibility of having a degree on Engineering and Economics, but also for the opportunity to have a strong college experience.

illan nasceu em resende (rJ), onde morou até 2007, tendo estudado a maior parte da sua vida no Colégio Dom Bosco. Em 2007, ao realizar o curso prepa-ratório para a olimpíada Brasi-leira de Matemática (oBM), foi contemplado com uma bolsa integral para estudar no Colégio Etapa em São Paulo (SP), onde teve acesso a uma melhor ca-pacitação para as competições de exatas. Ao longo do Ensino Médio conquistou diversas me-dalhas em olimpíadas: Bronze, na iberoamericana de Matemá-tica, ouro na Brasileira de infor-mática, Bronze na internacional de Física, Prata na Brasileira de Matemáticas e ouro na Brasilei-ra de Astronomia. illan partici-pou de diversos cursos na área de exatas: Programação Avan-çada da olimpíada Brasileira de informática; Escola Avançada de Física da Unicamp; Esco-la Avançada de Física do itA; Avançado de Astronomia da olimpíada Brasileira de Astrono-mia. Foi aceito em Cornell e no Mit, optando pelo Mit devido às possibilidades de graduação em Exatas. Antes do início das aulas no Mit, illan tem dado plantões de dúvida de Física e orientado participantes de olimpíadas de Física no Colégio Etapa.

illan Feiman halpern, 18, undergraduate, MiT

ilan was born in resende (rJ), where he lived until 2007, having studied most of his life at Colégio Dom Bosco. in 2007, when taking the preparatory course for the Brazilian Mathematics olym-pics (oBM), was awarded a full scholarship to study at Colégio Etapa in São Paulo (SP), where he had access to a better training for the Exacts competitions. throughout high school he won several medals in olympics: Bronze in the iberoamerican Math-ematics (2007), Gold in the Brazilian it (2008), Bronze in the international Physics, Silver in the Brazilian Math-ematics and Gold in Brazil-ian Astronomy. illan has attended several courses in the exact sciences: Advanced Programming in the Brazilian informatics olympics (2005-2008), Advanced School of Physics at Unicamp (2007), Advanced School of Physics of the itA (2008); Advanced Astronomy on the Brazilian Astronomy olympics (2008). He was accepted at Cornell and Mit, opting for Mit due to the many opportunities for graduation in the exacts field. Before the start of classes at Mit, ilan has been giving doubt monitoring classes of Physics and guided partici-pants in the Physics olym-pics at Colégio Etapa.

João Pedro nasceu e viveu no rio de Janeiro (rJ) durante a maior parte de sua vida, onde estudou na British School. o interesse de João Pedro por Economia e Negócios sempre foi nutrido em paralelo à escola. Em 2008, fez summer school em Colum-bia (EUA) nas áreas de introdu-ção à Economia e Finanças. Foi membro do Grêmio Estudantil durante todo a high school, atu-ando como Diretor Financeiro e membro do Conselho Executivo. Movida pelo sonho de estudar no iME, em 2006, começou o curso pré-ves-tibular no Poliedro, em São José dos Campos (SP) e, no fim desse ano, foi aprovada para o iME, ini-ciando o curso de Engenharia de Computação em 2007. Desde o início da graduação, foi bolsista de iniciação científica em Finan-ças no instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (iMPA), onde cur-sou matérias do Mestrado em Fi-nanças. Joyce é co-fundadora da Empresa Júnior do iME, da qual é Diretora de Gestão de Pessoas. Ainda, participa da Comissão de integração do iME, onde ocu-pa a posição de Presidente. Driven by the dream of studying at iME, in June 2006 she started the preparatory course for the university admission exams at Poliedro, in São José dos Campos (SP). in 2007, she started Computer Engineer-ing at iME. Since the start of graduation, she was scholar in basic scientific research in Finance at the institute of Pure and Applied Mathemat-ics (iMPA), where she attended the subjects for the Masters in Finance. today she is the first placed course at iME, with an accumulated Cr of 8.23. Since the age of seven she wrote short pieces of theater plays to perform with her sister and friends, and is currently writing a book co-authored with her sister about the life of her father (Alfredo de Freitas Dias Gomes, de-voted Brazilian dramaturge). At EArJ she participated in the Student Council as President. Moreover, Luana was leader of the Student Committee for improvements to her school. Luana was a member of Habitat for Humanity (global project for building houses for homeless families) and of Na-tional Honors Society (NHS), the committee of social af-fairs of the school. in the NHS she was involved in building a library in the rocinha slum and English classes to com-munity residents, and is a member of Amnesty interna-tional. He studied at Colégio rainha da Paz, where he received awards for best student in the class and in four writing contests. in the 2nd year of high school, he was asked by a teacher to give a lecture on economics to students in 3rd year, due to his excellent per-formance and knowledge on the subject. Since the age of 12, practicing Kung Fu, hav-ing obtained 1st place in all three competitions he took part, two state and one na-tional. in 2005, Lucas was engaged in the project Wa-ter for Dry Lives, building tanks in the countryside of Piaui. During the 1st year of high school, Lucas was able to reactivate his school’s newspaper, after ten years off market, becoming chief editor and persuading other students to be part of the initiative. He applied only for the University of Dartmouth, where he began a course of economics in the second half of 2010.

Luíza is from São Paulo (SP), where she has always lived with her parents. Completed junior high school at Divina Pastora School and attended high school at CEFEt. Dur-ing school holidays from high school, Luíza attended the School of Nuclear Energy (iPEN-USP) and the Advanced School of Physics. Luíza was approved in the admission exams of Computer Engineer-ing at UNiCAMP and technol-ogy at UFABC. However chose to study at Mit to have the opportunity to do a flexible curriculum, unlike the Bra-zilian universities, plus the ability to do a double major. Além disso, foi indicado ao iSMArt, projeto que acompanha e oferece todo tipo de suporte (inclusive financeiro) a alunos de baixa renda para que possam se desenvolver durante o Ensino Médio. Marco conquistou Meda-lha de ouro na olimpíada Pau-lista de Matemática na 8ª série, Medalha de Prata no 1º ano do Ensino Médio, ouro nas olimpí-adas Brasileiras de Física e Quí-mica e na de Matemática, Prata na iberoamericana de Matemáti-ca e Bronze na internacional de Matemática. Marco Antonio is from Santa isabel (SP). in the 7th grade, the school where studied went bankrupt and he had to at-tend the next grade in a public school. He attended high school at Colégio Etapa (São Paulo) with full scholarship, where he learned about the preparations for the Mathematics olympics. in addition, he was nominated to iSMArt, a project that moni-tors and offers all kinds of sup-port (including financial) to low-income students so they can fully develop during high school. Marco won the Gold Medal at the São Paulo Math-ematics olympics, Silver Medal, Gold in the Brazilian Physics and Chemistry olympics and Mathematics, Silver at the iberoamerican in Mathemat-ics and Bronze in international Mathematics. Seeing the im-pact of the competition in his life, Marco decided to organize a group with the aim of prepar-ing young people for the Exacts olympics, forming the olímpi-cos Santa isabel (oSi). the proj-ect serves about 150 students, bringing to the city more than 100 medals at olympics over the past three years. Matheus é natural de Campi-na Grande (PB) e sempre viveu em Boqueirão (PB). Estudou no Complexo Educacional regina Coeli (CErC). Em 2007, condu-ziu um estudo sobre as possíveis aplicações do tamarindo (muito comum nas ruas da cidade), de-senvolvendo um método artesa-nal para a produção de produtos de limpeza a partir da fruta. o processo foi adotado por uma clínica de recuperação (de depen-dentes químicos), que reverteu o lucro da venda dos produtos para sua própria manutenção. Cursou o último ano do Ensino Médio nos EUA, em uma escola pública. Após a conclusão dos estudos nos EUA, participou de um programa de verão no Mit sobre Engenharia Química. Em 2008, conquistou Medalha de Bronze na olimpíada Brasileira de Astronomia. Matheus foi pio-neiro, em sua cidade, quanto à participação em olimpíadas de exatas e difundiu o programa, incentivando outros estudantes a competir. Foi através da inter-net que Matheus descobriu cada uma dessas oportunidades. Em 2010, inicia o curso de Engenha-ria Química no illinois institute of technology. Antes de iniciar a graduação, Matheus irá à China dar aulas de inglês para crianças, em um projeto voluntário.

Matheus was born in Campina Grande (PB), but has always lived in Boqueirão (PB). He studied at the Complexo Edu-cacional regina Coeli (CErC). During 2007, he led an inves-tigation of the possible ap-plications of tamarind (very common on city streets), developing a method for pro-ducing handmade cleaning products from the fruit. the process was adopted by a rehabilitation clinic (for drug addicts), which reverted the gain from the products sales for its own maintenance. Dur-ing 2007, he studied in the U. S. and upon completion of his studies he attended a summer program on Chemical Engi-neering at Mit. After returning from the exchange program in 2008 he won the Bronze Medal in the Brazilian Astron-omy olympics. Matheus was a pioneered in his city, regarding participation in olympics of Exacts and spread the program by encouraging other students to compete. it was through the internet that Matheus found each of these opportunities. in 2010 he starts the Chemi-cal Engineering course at the illinois institute of technology. Before starting the graduation, Matheus will go to China to teach English to children in a volunteer project.

Na UFrJ, atuou na Fluxo Consultoria (Empresa Júnior), em Marketing e relacionamento, e em seguida participou da reativação do Gru-po de Novos Negócios e Empre-endedorismo (GN²), responsável pela organização de eventos, pa-lestras e consultorias em empre-endedorismo. Paulo was born in rio de Ja-neiro (rJ). He studied at the Colégio Militar, where he was a “graduated student” (students with more prominent perfor-mance), monitor of Mathemat-ics and Physics and participant on the Potential Development Program (Prodep) exclusive for students with greater poten-tial. At the end of high school he was approved for the Escola Naval, UFrJ, UErJ and AFA. He chose UFrJ, starting the Pro-duction Engineering course in 2007. At UFrJ, he worked at Fluxo Consultoria (Junior Com-pany UFrJ), in Marketing and relationship, and then partici-pated in the reactivation of the New Business Group and En-trepreneurship (GN²), respon-sible for organizing events, seminars and consultancy on entrepreneurship. Since 2009, Paulo is an intern at innvent, a company which invests and structures a group of start-ups in rio de Janeiro. Furthermore, he was one of the main articu-lators in rio de Janeiro, of the oasis Movement, which seeks to help through education and mobilization for the work. thiago was born and has lived most of his life in Fortaleza (CE). He attended junior high school at the Colégio Militar and the high school at the Colégio Far-ias Brito, with full scholarship. thiago won the Bronze Medal in Brazilian Astronomy, Bronze Medal and Silver in the Brazil-ian Physics, Silver Medal and an honorable mention in the olympics N/NW and Brazilian Chemical respectively. in late 2007, thiago was approved at the admission exams for UECE (1st place), UFC (4th place), EMi (20th place) and itA. He chose the latter university, starting a course of Aeronau-tical Mechanics Engineering in 2008. Since the first year of graduate he participates in the CASD Preparatory course (communitarian preparatory course for the university ad-mission exams maintained by the students of the itA), where today he occupies the position of Executive Director. in 2010, he joined a summer internship at Banco BBM, developing in-formatics tool to control the fi-nancial operations and became the tutor of Electromagnetism at itA. in 2010 began the pro-cess of founding a new NGo, the CASDinho, preparing young people from public schools for the academic olympics.

No 2º ano do Ensino Médio, participou do Programa de vocação Científica na UFMG, no qual descobriu seu interesse em pesquisas para a cura de doenças. Nessa mesma época, conheceu a FioCrUZ de Belo Horizonte, onde foi fortemente incentivado a seguir pesquisas sobre a malária. No último ano do Ensino Médio, Wilian estu-dou no Colégio roquette, no rio de Janeiro, a fim de ficar mais próximo a centros de pesquisa e avançar seu trabalho na Fio-CrUZ. Ao fim do Ensino Médio, foi aprovado para o curso de Engenharia Química na UFMG, mas queria estudar no iME. Fez um ano de curso pré-vestibular no Curso Poliedro (com bolsa integral) e foi aprovado para o iME, onde ingressou no início de 2009. Wilian is from Belo Horizonte (MG). He took junior high at Colégio Santa rita de Cássia and the first two years of high school at the Colégio Militar. in the 2nd year of high school he participated in the Scien-tific vocation Program from UFMG, where he discovered his interest in research to cure diseases. Around this time he met the FioCrUZ in Belo Hor-izonte, where he was strongly encouraged to follow research on malaria. During the last year of high school Wilian studied at Colégio roquette, in rio de Janeiro, in order to be closer to research centers and to advance on his work at FioCrUZ. After high school he was approved for the course in Chemical Engineering from UFMG, but he wanted to study the iME. He took a year of the preparatory course for the university admission exams at Poliedro (with full scholarship) and at the end of 2008, was approved for iME, which he joined in early 2009. At iME he is a member of the Brazilian Army Chemi-cal and Biological Defense research Group conducting basic scientific research on molecular modeling based on algorithms calculation to simulate the experimental behavior of tropical diseases and biological warfare.

He studied Environmen-tal and Sanitary Engineering at UFSC, where he developed a project focused on improve the social-environmental conditions in the slums near there. Given the results such as reducing the accumula-tion of garbage by 80% in the first year of the project, Cauam got First Place in the international Essay Com-petition of the World Bank (global competition among young people who develop community projects). Still in university, Cauam was a con-sultant of the City of Barueri in the development of public policies intended to reducing social inequality in the city. Still, in the end of that year he was working in Luanda, Angola, at the consultancy firm GtECH. Yet, he worked in the development of the Solid Waste Plan from the re-urbanization Program of the rocinha slum (rJ), in which he was the leading consul-tant. Em 2005, trabalhou na Honda, em Manaus, como Engenheiro de Produto. Em 2007, entrou na Sony como Ge-rente de Projetos, liderando a im-plantação da linha de produção da câmera Cyber-shot na planta de Manaus. Em 2009, co-fundou a Solvetech (consultoria especiali-zada em eficiência energética), na qual é responsável pelas áreas de Estratégia e Finanças.

Januncio Pessoa de Lima neto, 31, MBa, Lon-don Business school

Januncio was born in Salva-dor (BA), but has lived most of his life in Solânea (PB). in high school, he moved to João Pes-soa (PB) to attend the electron-ics technician course. in 1997, he began to study Electrical En-gineering at Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG). in 2001 he won an award for technological innovation (Mission xxi) of Motorola, to develop a smart antenna for mobile. in 2002 he made an academic exchange program to Ehime University in Japan, where he conducted research in telecommunications. in 2003 he completed the un-dergraduate degree, achieving first place from his class for academic performance, with average Cr of 8.3. in 2004, as a trainee at Braskem, Januncio participated in the automation of a plant and worked in the Controller and is responsible for evaluating investments in company projects. in 2005, he worked at Honda (Manaus), working with Product Engineer. in 2007 joined Sony as Project Manager, leading the deploy-ment of the production line of Cyber-shot plant in Manaus. in 2009, he co-founded Solvetech (consulting firm specializing in energy efficiency), which is re-sponsible for the areas of Strat-egy and Finance.

Marcelo é natural de Divinópo-lis (MG). Em 2004 ingressou no itA, onde fez parte da AiESEC e do Departamento Cultural. Du-rante a graduação, Marcelo abriu uma empresa de intermediação de intercâmbios, tendo enviado mais de 100 alunos nos dois anos em que o negócio esteve aberto. Estagiou na farmacêuti-ca Nycomed, na área de Supply Chain e, em 2008, passou oito meses na Suíça, trabalhando na multinacional de logística UPS Supply Chain Solutions. Na volta ao Brasil, estagiou na área de it do Credit Suisse. No quinto ano de faculdade estagiou por seis meses no Mit, no departamento de pesquisa Brain and Cognitive Sciences, e, em seguida, reali-zou um curso de três meses de Neurociência Computacional na University of Pennsylvania. Des-de 2009, está trabalhando no Laboratório de Neurociências do Hospital Sírio Libanês. Ao longo de sua carreira, Marcelo preten-de aliar dois focos de atuação: pesquisa de inovação em neu-rociências e produção de novas técnicas e tecnologias para essa área. No PhD na University of Pennsylvania irá estudar me-mória, conectividade neuronal e neuropróteses, temas ainda inci-pientes no Brasil.

Marcelo Mattar, 24, PhD – Psychology, university of Pennsylvania

Marcelo is from Divinópolis (MG). in 2004 he joined itA, in which he was part of AiESEC and the Cultural Department. in the second year of itA, Mar-celo opened with friends an academic exchange program company “work and travel”, having sent over 100 students in two years in which the busi-ness was open. in the third year of college, he joined an internship at Nycomed phar-maceutics in the area of Sup-ply Chain. in 2008, he worked in multinational logistics UPS Supply Chain Solutions in Swit-zerland. Coming back to Brazil he joined an internship in the it area at Credit Suisse. in the end of college he became an intern at Mit, in the research depart-ment of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, and then enrolled in a course in Computational Neu-roscience at the University of Pennsylvania. Since 2009 he is working at the Laboratory of Neurosciences from Hospital Sírio Libanês. in the PhD at the University of Pennsylvania he will study memory, neuronal connectivity and neuropros-thetic, subjects still incipient in Brazil.

Marcio é natural de São Paulo (SP). Cursou Engenharia Elétri-ca na USP, graduando-se em primeiro lugar dentre os alunos de todas as Engenharias da Es-cola Politécnica da USP, com Cr médio de 9,3. obteve o título de Mestre pela mesma instituição, desenvolvendo trabalho sobre aspectos financeiros e nego-ciais de serviços multimídia. Em 2000, Marcio iniciou sua car-reira como estagiário na Erics-son/FDtE. Em 2002, ingressou como estagiário na área de con-sultoria da Promon tecnologia – empresa que, como parte de seu processo de internacionalização, deu origem à PromonLogicalis Latin America (um dos maio-res integradores de sistemas na América Latina). A partir de 2003, já como consultor, teve uma atuação multifacetada na área de consultoria, conduzindo diversos projetos que mescla-vam perspectivas de negócio e tecnologia para grandes corpo-rações no Brasil e no exterior. Desde 2008, atua como Gerente de Negócios, sendo responsá-vel por estabelecer e gerenciar alianças estratégicas para a Pro-monLogicalis na América Latina e desenvolver novas oportunida-des de negócio.

Marcio is from São Paulo (SP). He studied Electrical Engi-neering at USP, graduating in 2002, when he won first place among students of all Engi-neering from the Polytechnic School of USP, with an average Cr of 9.3. He got his Master’s degree from the same institu-tion in 2007, developing works on financial and business as-pects of multimedia services in the telecommunications industry. in 2000, Marcio be-gan his career as an intern at Ericsson/FDtE, participating in an international project to develop new applications for telecom operators. in 2002, he joined as a trainee in consult-ing at Promon technology - a company that, as part of its internationalization process, created PromonLogicalis Latin America (one of the largest systems integrators in Latin America). Since 2003 as a consultant he had a multifac-eted role in consulting, leading several projects that combined the perspectives of business and technology for large cor-porations in Brazil and abroad. Since 2008 he works as a Business Manager and is re-sponsible for establishing and managing strategic alliances for the PromonLogicalis in Latin America and developing new business opportunities.

vitor é natural de oiapoque (AP) e morou em diversas cidades do interior do Pará e do Ama-pá (AP). Em 2001, conquistou Medalha de ouro na olimpíada Brasileira de Física. No mes-mo ano foi aprovado em Enge-nharia nos vestibulares do itA, Unicamp e Unesp. Em 2002, iniciou o curso de Engenharia Mecânica-Aeronáutica no itA, onde foi representante discente, diretor da Atlética e professor voluntário no Casdvest (cursinho pré-vestibular assistencial gerido por alunos do itA). Em 2006, fez estágio na tesouraria do Santan-der, elaborando operações de tra-ding para clientes institucionais. Ao terminar a graduação, vitor entrou na McKinsey&Company, como Analista de Negócios, onde foi responsável por desenvolver a estratégia de expansão logís-tica de uma das maiores redes de supermercado do Brasil. Em 2009, foi para a international Meal Company (iMC) atuar como Gerente de Novos Negócios, onde foi responsável por avaliar a via-bilidade de investimentos e ope-rações de fusões e aquisições. Lá, vem desenvolvendo a avaliação financeira para abertura de no-vas lojas e participou do processo de preparação para abertura de capital da empresa na Bolsa de valores de São Paulo.

vitor is from oiapoque (AP) and has lived in several cities in the interior of Pará and Amapá (AP). in 2001, he won the gold medal at the Brazilian Physics olympics. in the same year he was approved in Engineering at itA, Unicamp and Unesp. in 2002, he began to study Aeronautic Mechanics Engi-neering at itA, where he was the student’s representative, Director of the Athletics Depart-ment and volunteer teacher in Casdvest (preparatory course for the university exams man-aged and cared by students of itA). in 2006 he joined a year of internship at the treasury of Santander Bank, performimng trading operations for institu-tional clients. When he finished graduation, victor joined the McKinsey & Company as a Business Analyst, where he was responsible for developing the strategy to expand the logistics of one of the largest supermar-ket chains in Brazil. in 2009 he went to the international Meal Company (iMC) to act as New Business Manager, where he was responsible for assessing the viability of investments and mergers and acquisitions. there he has been developing the fi-nancial assessment for opening new stores and participated in the preparation process for the company’s iPo on the Stock Ex-change of Sao Paulo.
