I. Qualifications & Registration 1. Bonafide students currently enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering are eligible to join the competition. 2. Only one coach is allowed to accompany the participants during the competition and must be a bonafide faculty member of the same school, college or university as the participants. 3. Participants may submit their registration forms via email ([email protected]) or to the registration committee head Mr. Christopher F. Mediavillo (cell no: 09154398858). 4. The registration fee is P200.00 per participant which may be given to the organizers until the date of the event, this includes the lunch of the participants and coach. 5. Payments can also be accomplished through bank transactions. Bank payments may be deposited to any Security Bank branch, under account name John Carlo V. Puno with account number 0686-673122-200. This payment shall serve as your CONFIRMATION in joining the event. 6. If payment is done through bank deposit, a scanned copy of the deposit slip and one participants valid school ID in JPEG format (.jpg) to be sent to [email protected] after the deposit was made. In the body of the e-mail, kindly mention the time and other important details of your deposit to avoid confusion. Subject of email: Name of School.Branch of bank Deposit.Amount e.g. TUP-Manila.Vito Cruz Taft.P1,000.00 7. Consequently, after receiving the e-mail we will issue a receipt that will be scanned and sent via e-mail to the participant of the school that sent the scanned deposit slip. The actual receipt will be given on the actual registration on the day of the event. 8. Kindly secure your deposit slips which are to be presented in the actual registration of the event. 9. Participating students should present their school ID and enrollment registration form on the day of the event as proof that they are currently enrolled during the term. 10.   • II. Quiz Mechanics The contest will be divided into four rounds namely, the Elimination, Quarter Final, Semi Final and the Final Round. The scope of the quiz is all about Electronic Systems and Technologies topics

    under the ECE curriculum, specifically:

    Fiber Optic Cable, Transmitters, Receivers, Loss Calculations

    Telephony and Mobile Communications

    Telephony fundamentals, mobile communications principles, wireless technologies

    Data Communications OSI Model, Computer Networking, Error Correction and Detection, Multiplexing

    Signals, Spectra and Signal Processing

    Signal Operations, Domain transforms, Sampling, Convolution

    Differential Equations, Probability Theory, Discrete Mathematics, Vector Analysis, Numerical Analysis,

    General Guidelines

    1. Only one non programmable calculator is allowed for each participant in the competition.

    2. Mobile phones should be in silent mode, or preferably switched off during the contest proper.

    3. OECES reserves the right to change part of the rules and regulations to further improve the

    conduct of the event.

  • Elimination Round

    1. Each participating student will take a written examination.

    2. The examination will consist of 3 separate sets: ten (10) Objective Questions, ten (10) Short

    Solution Questions, and five (5) Difficult Problems.

    3. The Objective Questions which worth 3 points each and shall be answered for 10 minutes only.

    4. The Short Solution Questions which worth 5 points shall be answered for 20 minutes only.

    5. The Difficult Problems which worth 10-20 points each shall be answered for 30 minutes only.

    6. Answers must be written on the answer sheets provided.

    7. Answer sheet must be properly labeled by the participant.

    8. The participant should submit their answer sheets to the proctor on or before the allotted time.

    9. Non-integer numerical answer answers should be rounded off to at least two (2) decimal places.

    10. Incorrectly spelled answers shall be considered wrong.

    11. Only the top eight (8) contestants will proceed to the Quarter final Round.

    12. In case of tie, three (3) tie-breaker oral questions would be asked to the participants involve in the

    tie-breaking. The questions will be read only twice. 13. The participant should give his/her answer within the allotted time.

    14. The participant should write his/her answer on the white board provided.

    15. The participant who will be able to answer correctly the most number of questions will obtain the

    higher/highest rank. 16. If in case the tie is not yet broken, rules number 12 to 14 will be applied until the tie is broken.

    17. Any examinee who would be involved to any form of dishonesty or cheating will be

    automatically disqualified in the competition.

  • Quarter-final Round

    1. The Quarter-final Round will be a one on one, face off, oral quiz tournament competition of the eight qualifiers from the Elimination Round.

    2. This round will be composed of four competing matches, the first would be between Rank 1 and

    Rank 8, the second would be between Rank 2 and Rank 7, the third would be between Rank 3 and

    Rank 6 and the last would be between Rank 4 and Rank 5.

    3. Each match consists of three (3) EASY QUESTIONS worth 2 points each, three (3) AVERAGE

    QUESTIONS, 3 points each, and three (3) DIFFICULT QUESTIONS, 5 points each.

    4. Each question has an allotted time to be answered.

    5. Each question will be read only twice. The timer countdown will start automatically after the second

    reading of the question.

    6. Each contestant can answer the question only once and even before the quizmaster finish reading

    it. 7. Contestant should press the buzzer whenever he/she attempts to answer the question.

    8. The contestant who presses the buzzer first will be given only 5 seconds to state the answer.

    9. The other contestant will be given a chance to answer the question in case that the first contestant

    failed to give the correct answer.

    10. The contestant who will give the correct answer will gain the corresponding points.

    11. No deduction will be given for every wrong answer.

    12. The contestant who will garner the higher points will be the winner for this match.

    13. In case of tie, a tie breaking question will be given to break the tie.

    14. The winners in the matches will advance in the Semi-final round.

    15. Any complaint regarding the question in the quiz should be raised by the contestant to the panel

    of judges before the reading of the next question. 16. The decision of the panel of judges will be final and irrevocable.

  • Semi - Final Round

    1. The mechanics for this round would be the same with the quarter-final round.

    2. The first competing match would between winners of Match 1 and Match 4 and the second

    competing match would be between winners of Match 2 and 3 of the quarter final round.

    3. The winners in matches will proceed to the Final Round.

    Final Round

    1. The mechanics for this round would be the same with the semi-final round.

    2. The winner of the match will be declared as the Champion of the Brodkast ng Talino 2015.
