We have recently received a shipment of the rare Domaine Tissot wines from Arboisin the Jura. Some of these are made in tiny quantities and the allocation forAustralia ranges from 2 to 20 dozen ONLY. You may already be familiar with the idiosyncratic wines made by Stéphane Tissot,the fast talking, and excitable Jurasian super-star. If not, then these new arrivals arethe perfect introduction to the Domaine and their exciting expression of Jura. From this estate of 50ha, comes a range of around 30 wines, (unfortunately not allof these reach our shores). In order to achieve a 'maximum expression ofterroir', fruit is sourced from small plots of densely-planted old-vines which havebeen organically farmed since 1999. The domaine has been Certified Organic since2004. Yields are kept low, averaging only 30 hectoliters per hectare for the whites.Ferments are allowed to commence naturally and the still wines are bottled withoutfiltration and little to no sulphur additions. Vibrancy and fruit presence are asignature across all his wines. Stéphane is constantly experimenting and obsessively seeking improvements. He isat the forefront of the Jura revolution, producing terroir-driven wines of depth,intensity, interest and undeniable quality.

of 2016 releases. Sourced from vines aged between 45 and 90 years of age! Vinification is with nativeyeasts and ferment lasts for around 30 days. It then rests in barrel for 1 year prior tobottling. Bottled without SO2 and without filtration. Bright red-berry fruits pierce through a spicy, meaty, savoury nose. Charcuterie withfresh currants and cranberry and a bloody/ferrous undertone. High natural acidityand fine-grain tannins ensure a long finish! "Gravelly texture and savouriness define the wine, but there’s freshness underlyingto counter and raise drinkability (through the roof!). It’s light bodied, sour cherryspectrum in scents and flavours, but no escaping the ‘autumn’ feel to the wine indried leaves, undergrowth, game meat and dried rose hips. The palate has somegrunt (and structure), despite the feather weight vibe, with tannins swirling andcrunching from early through to its long finish. Time open and the wine gets a touchextra fruitiness too. It’s such a pleasing wine to enjoy, slowly, yet the urge to keep onyour glass is there." - 94 Points Mike Bennie, WineFront.com 27th Jan

Patchwork Chardonnay 2016

The Patchwork Chardonnay is sourced from grapes grown on two main soil types -clay and limestone - and offers generousity of flavour framed by zippy acid and afine-boned phenolic structure. It rests on lees for a year in 10% new barriques. Orchard fruits, citrus, toasted nuts, spice and a slight saline lift. "There’s some width and depth to this release but it still holds all of its blisteringfreshness intact. Scents of roast almond, sea breeze, ripe citrus, faint jasmine and atouch of stone fruit. It sits in the palate with this light saltiness and mouthwateringvitality, rolls on sleek texture through its just shy of medium weight concentration,fruit laden with nuttiness, finishes with a starburst of crunchy grapefruity tang andflinty mineral character. Savagnin 2014 The Savagnin grapes are grown on 30 year old vines on Triassic soils. The winewas aged for around 3 years under a layer of yeast in an oxidative style. Thiswinemaking style contributes to the texture on the palate and complexity of flavors. Yellow apple, dried peach, lemon rind, white pepper, honey, roasted walnuts, driedcitrus peel and curry leaves. "2014 is a very different millésime, a year with very good freshness, fresher andcooler, a little more austere and mineral than 2016. We tasted at 100 mph, thespeed at which Tissot talks, in English or in French, and the excursion through theportfolio was fascinating. Tissot is at the head of this game. Trousseau Singulier 2016 The Trousseau vines are grown on limestone and clay soils with some vines as oldas 80 years old! Aged in 600 liters barrels for 1 year and bottled with small amountsof SO2 and without filtration. Flavors of dark cherry, purple plum, black pepper and ripe tannins. "The 2016 Arbois Trousseau Singulier is a crunchy vintage, with very aromatic redfruit, herbal and spicy, a little rustic and with the oak very nicely integrated.
