The Blues

The blues began around the 1900 and 1800 century in Mississippi, upriver from New Orleans. Both jazz and the blues originated here and were influenced by eachother.

No one actually discovered the blues, even though many claimed they did. These people weren't believed by anyone mainly because of the huge diversity of blues, knowing they couldn’t of written over 46 different genres.

Origins of the blues

There is an astounding amount of different types of blues with over fourty six types for example, Traditional country blues, boogie-woogie, Chicago blues, cool blues, west blues, Texas blues, St Louis blues etc.

BB King - BB King was on of the most known American blues musicians staring his career in Itta Bena, Mississippi, United States of America  he sang mainly blues rock, Soul blues and Rock music. In 2011 he was featured in the Rolling Stone magazine ranking no. 6 for one of the greatest musicians.

• Ma" Rainey – Ma” Rainey was one of the earliest known American professional blues singers and was

called the mother of the blues. She began performing as a teenager, and as she grew up she

met a man named Will Rainey, they then married in 1904. They toured together and formed a group

called Rainey and Rainey.
