ABOUT THE PEOPLE BEHIND BLEED

Every one of us loves extreme sports, nature and streetwear. We all get our influence from different types of sports like surfing, skateboarding, mountainbiking and snowboarding.

ABOUT THE BLEED COLLECTION

We want to prove that eco-friendly Street- and Sportswear doesn’t have to be boring at all. We love sports and fun in the nature, so it is very important for us to keep the ecological damage during the production of our clothes as low as possible and to reach even so a high function for active application. That’s why the bleed collection is composed for the most part of organic cotton and viscose from bamboo pulp. For highly sophisticated sportswear like functional jackets recycled materials will be applied. No need to say that even our accessories are sustainable as far as possible. The production of bleed-clothes is done under very high social and human conditions. We don’t want to save only the environment, we want to abolish the exploitation of workers as well. With an ironic name and revolutionary, progressive prints we try to get peoples awareness for our environment.

ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE BLEED MAKES

Unfortunately it is still fact that a lot of companies manufacture their clothes on inhuman and environmentally unacceptable terms. We don’t follow this path. We go another way. (a better one!)

ABOUT THE BLEED CERTIFICATIONS

Our production and clothes get controlled and certified regularly by independent control institutes like Control Union. We’ve got certified our clothes with the eco sustainable logo and the GOTS organic logo. All our organic cotton tops are certified by the very strict naturland fair standard.

ABOUT OUR BELIEVE IN BLEED

In order to inspire even more people of the idea, we created the project „BLEED FOR NATURE“. Our team will always be an active part of this development for nature. We are happy about everyone who wants to support us and fight for a better future of our planet.

The bleed Material Story

ORGANIC COTTON

First of all, we do not use genetically engineered seeds for growing our cotton. Our cotton grows up with no need for chemical treatment like pesticides, or chemical fertilizers. We also try to keep the water consumption as low as possible. The organic cotton for our production is hand picked. The cotton farmers are treated and paid in a fair way. Child labour is not allowed. We keep the transportation routes as short as possible in order to reduce environmental pollution.

TENCEL (VISCOSE FROM EUKALYPTUS)

Tencel is a regenerated cellulose fibre made from eucalyptus wood pulp. Compared to usual cotton, the adoption of water and the use of pesticides is quite low. Tencel absorbs excess liquid and quickly releases it again into the atmosphere. The true nature of Tencel can be found in this perfect interaction. Human skin acts as a protective shell, regulates body temperature and maintains water balance. Tencel supports these body functions acting like a second skin and is very convenient for sensitive skin. Texiles made out of Tencel vary from suede or peach touch surfaces to a clean, smooth silky touch and are easy to clean.

KAPOK

Kapok fibres grow in capsules from the Kapok tree which is growing wild in the tropical regions of Asia. The fibre is light, very breathable, resilient, and water-resistant. The process of harvesting and separating the fibre is very labour-intensive and manual. The fibre is kept chemical untreated in its original state. It is quite difficult to spin, but we made it. Until now, it is not possible to spin a 100% Kapok fibre, but be sure we will give our best. Until then we mix it with organic cotton.

RECYCLED SILVER

Our latest material development eco-silver is composed of 95% organic cotton mixed with 5% silver, the silver is to 50% recycled. By this means we are able to reach sustainability and a high performance standard. The eco-silver-range provides freshness, because it stops the fungus- and bacterium accretion at the fabric. Eco-Silver textiles are anti-microbial, eliminate odor, regulate temperature and minimize static electricity. It is also very suitable for sensitive skins or allergic persons.

RECYCLED POLYESTER

For this one, we tear old soft drink bottles into pieces and melt them down. You can say, this fibre comes right out of the melting pot.

Our Sympatex membrane is made of fully recyclable polyether ester that poses no health risks whatsoever, making it 100% eco- and skin-friendly. The material is made of hydrogen, carbon and oxygen – components which are completely biodegradable and leave no toxic residue, meaning that Sympatex is every bit as recyclable as a PET bottle. This unique benefit is one reason why the Sympatex Membrane has been awarded bluesign certification and Öko-Tex Standard 100. The bluesign standard assures maximum freedom from pollutants as well as safe and resource - friendly manufacturing. The Sympatex membrane features a poreless polyether ester structure, which lend it unique attributes:

The membrane is laminated to fabrics either on its inner surface or sandwiched between two fabric layers (often marketed as „3 layer laminate“). The layer system offers greater durability, by better protecting the integrity of the Sympatex layer from abrasion to both the outside and the inside of the garment. Sympatex – perform better without sweat.

All of our prints are screen-prints with water-based and PCB-free inks only.

We think that even all of our accessories should be sustainable. For our zippers, we use only either chrome and nickel free metal or recycled polyester. Same thing for buttons, hooks and loops etc.
