    DeadlinesPlease note that the graduate programs listed below have specific application deadlines and are available only for thesemesters noted. All other graduate programs are available each semester and generally operate on a rolling admissions basiswith applications accepted as long as space is available.     Read through the following instructions carefully noting where credentials and materials to complete your application areto be sent for processing. In most instances, you will be required to send your materials to the LIU Admissions ProcessingCenter. Please use the enclosed Credential Cover Sheet to accompany your materials to the Admissions Processing Center;you also may want to provide your recommenders this cover sheet if materials are being sent directly to the Center.NOTE: International students should send applications and credentials to the Office of Admissions and NOT theAdmissions Processing Center.

    Transcript(s)Applicants to LIU Brooklyn must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended showing all courses;grades; and degrees received, if any. Applicants should request that the transcript(s) be returned to them in a sealedenvelope with the signature of an authorized official written across the sealed flap to be included in your admissionspackage. Schools not providing this service may mail the official transcript directly to the Graduate Admissions ProcessingCenter. Photocopies, student copies, transcripts printed from university websites and transcripts received in opened envelopes are notconsidered official.

    Personal StatementThe personal statement should be double-spaced and typewritten either on the form provided in this application bookletor on a separate sheet attached to the form. Your statement should describe your reason for pursuing graduate study in yourproposed area of study, your personal and academic background, relevant experience and your professional goals.

    Letters of RecommendationLetters of recommendation should be from an academic source, preferably a professor or academic official who is familiarwith your academic history and achievement. If you have been out of school for several years, professionalrecommendations may come from your employer or supervisor. Applicants should request that the recommendation(s) bereturned to them in a sealed envelope with the signature of the recommender written across the sealed flap to be includedin your admissions package. If preferred, a recommender may mail the recommendation letter directly to the GraduateAdmissions Processing Center. Please refer to the Graduate Programs and Application Requirements pages to determinehow many letters are required for your specific program. Letters of recommendation may be submitted using the enclosedrecommendation form or on the recommenders letterhead. One recommendation form has been provided in this booklet.

    Please make additional copies as required by your specific program.

    Graduate Admissions TestsPlease refer to the Graduate Programs and Application Requirements pages to determine if any standardized tests arerequired for your specific program. Official scores of any required standardized test, such as the GRE, GMAT, TOEFL orIELTS must be directly reported to LIU Brooklyn by the appropriate testing service. The campuss Educational TestingService Code is 2369. The LIU Brooklyn ETS Code for Physical Therapy PTCAS ONLY is 0333.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

    Application DeadlineAll international applicants who require a student visa must provide completed applications, including all supportingmaterials, by May 1 for the fall semester and November 1 for the spring semester. However, applicants to the five programsnoted on page 1 must adhere to the deadlines specified.

    TOEFL and IELTS ExaminationsInternational applicants whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

    and have official results sent directly to LIU Brooklyn (code 2369). Minimum acceptable scores are as follows: 79 on theinternet-based test, 213 on the computer-based test or 550 on the paper-based test. The IELTS exam is also acceptable asproof of English proficiency. The minimum acceptable overall band score is 6.0.

    Foreign Educational DocumentsUndergraduate transcripts/marksheets for each year of study, including degree conferral (diploma/degree certificate) arerequired. All records must be translated into English and be original or copies of the original certified/attested by an officialof the school issuing that record or by the consulate/ministry of education of the issuing country.

    Student VisaStudents who need a Form I-20 to obtain an F-1 student visa should submit the following documents with their admissionmaterials:

    An I-20 Request Form (available from the Graduate Admissions website) Sponsors Affidavit(s) of Support Sponsors certified/attested bank statement(s) showing sufficient funds (converted into U.S. dollars) to cover

    tuition, fees and living expenses for one full year of study at LIU Brooklyn.

    Please note: All F-1 visa holders must maintain continuous full-time enrollment (at least 9 credits each semester).
