Member of the Language and Communication Curriculum Committee and the Heritage and Culture Curriculum Committee. Task: review and evaluate the existing curricula in the Humanities and Social Sciences Divisions and make recommendations concerning:

- the Mission Statement of the New Vision of the College, - the quality and adequacy of the learning outcome goals for existing

programs, - the need to terminate, revise or introduce programs to ensure a

current and relevant curriculum, - the Introductory Thematic Course offered by the Humanities

Division, with a view to ensuring that it is achieving its purpose and of high quality in content and delivery.

4.3 Student Advising

2008 and 2011 Academic and professional adviser for two Teaching Assistants at the Department of linguistics (UAE University): Tasks: (i) define the student’s PhD research, (ii) assist her in applying for admission to PhD programs in American and/or Canadian universities

2007 Co-supervising a student in conducting a research on phonological development in an Emirati Arabic-speaking child.

2004-2005 Academic Advisor (CADvisor) for 11 students, Center for Academic Development, Al-Akhawayn University in Ifrane.

4.4 Other Community Service

2010 Developed collaboration between UAE University and the United Arab Emirates Deaf Association in order to build a dictionary/lexicon of UAE sign language(s), and recruit hearing impaired students to study linguistics.

1995 Co-founded of the Arab Youth Center in Montreal, Canada. The Center’s mission:

- present cultural aspects of the Arab world to non-Arab Canadians by means of conferences, art expositions and shows,

- facilitate the integration of Arab immigrants into their new environment by providing them with language classes and helping them finding jobs and writing their CVs.

1995 Organized the first cultural and youth integration-oriented activity of the Arab Youth Center in Montreal.

1995 Organized a seminar on integration problems facing Arab immigrants in Canada. The activity was organized in collaboration with the Quebec Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities.
