With the Distinguished Level of Achievement, students are eligible for the Top 10% Plan’s automatic college admission In the summer of 2013, the Texas Legislature changed the graduation requirements for Texas students. Schools are now encouraged to put students in different paths toward graduation – some college bound and some bound for labor. But colleges still look for students to have these courses: English IV & Algebra II & Chemistry* & Physics* & World History or World Geography** & Speech * Has been replaced with choice of Integrated Physics & Chemistry or other science ** Has been replaced with choice of either World History or World Geography or a combination of the two Students should not be tracked into low- level courses nor into different diploma routes or graduation plans. The Texas diploma is no longer standard across the state. It doesn’t have to be this way… School districts can put all students on a graduation plan that matches the old 4x4. School districts can require Algebra II for all students (“Distinguished as Default”) – Several have already done so. Con el Distinguido Nivel de logro, los estudiantes son elegibles para la admisión universitaria automática bajo el plan del 10%.

La Legislatura de Texas cambió los requisitos de graduación para los estudiantes de Texas.

Se está promoviendo poner a los estudiantes en uno de los diferentes planes de graduación – de un plan que prepara a nuestros niños para la universidad a otro que mínimamente los prepara para entrar al mundo laboral.

Pero no tiene que ser así… Los distritos pueden poner todos los estudiantes en un plan de graduación que coincide con el 4x4.

Los distritos escolares puede requerir Álgebra II para todos los estudiantes (“Distinguido como el Modelo Ejemplar”) - Varios ya lo han hecho.

Con sus familias y consejeros, los estudiantes pueden asegurarse de que están en la trayectoria para tomar los cursos de preparación universitaria: Inglés IV, Álgebra II, Química, Física, Historia Universal y Geografía Mundial.
