Desiccator is an instrument made of a composite glass. It is shaped like pot. It is hard and heavy because made of thick glass, but it’s very brittle and easy to break. the bottom of desiccator filled with two desiccant such as silica gel so that the influence of water vapor during drying can be absorbed by the silica gel.

The Desiccator has a handle, a lid and two level desiccator , the upper one and the lower one. The diameter of the handle is 3.5 cm and the height is 4 cm. The desiccator lid is 12 cm high and the diameter is 24 cm.

The upper level of desiccator is 12 cm high. and the lower level is 6.5 cm high with diameter of it is 11 cm. All of desiccator’s part are made of glass.

The functions of dessicator :

- A place to store the samples that must be free of water- For Drying and cooling the sample that will be used for test the moisture content

How to use Desiccator :

- to open the lid of the desiccator first is by sliding it to the side.- After that, put new sample out of the oven or to be in dry and refrigerated- Then close again in the same way by the earlier opening in the sliding to sideways

Cover of the desiccator should be not appointed but must be shifted.
