“Listed in World Painting Index”
“Contributing factors for weeding are the physical condition of the book, the datedness of the book, and whether or not there are duplicate circulating copies of the book. If the book is old, but it has a good index, table of contents, bibliography, or if it is a classic reference book, one that is listed in a respected bibliography, as for example the World Painting Index, or Balay’s Guide to Reference Books, Marmor’s Guide to the Literature of Art History, Arntzen and Rainwater’s Guide to the Literature of Art History, Freitag’s Art Books : a Basic Bibliography of Monographs on Artists, Clapp's Sculpture Index, Franklin’s Antiques and Collectibles, Parry’s Photography Index: A Guide to Reproductions, or Moss’s Photography Books Index: A Subject Guide to Photo Anthologies, then despite the date of publication, the book should be retained or replaced by a newer copy, if possible. If you find that the book is listed in any of these bibliographies, make a note, “Listed in WPI,” for example, by the inside barcode, if possible, so that it will be saved from weeding in the future as well.”
