It’s November and the competition season is heating up. This has been evidenced by the hard work and preparation by our swimmers at the recent MSW Championships recently held. Plenty of Personal Best achievements, Medals, Metro and State Qualifying Times set by our young swimmers. It was a wonderful 2 days of competitive swimming for our swimmers.

Again our swimmers proved themselves in the water at our very own Blacktown Carnival (November 17) this past weekend. We had 41 teams and 215 swimmers compete on the day in 84 events… the weather was atrocious, yet the swimmers still had a marvelous day of swimming. All of our Blacktown swimmers showed wonderful sportsmanship and encouragement to all of their swimming peers.

Our swimmers are shining!! You’re efforts, determination and the work you put into your training, along with our awesome coaching staff = GREAT RESULTS!! As a club… we are most proud of your accomplishments in the water. Full results can be found on the results page.

If you’re new to swimming or Club nights - interested in competitive swimming - there are some great long course carnivals on the calendar for the 2014 season. We look forward to having you represent BCSC, wearing our new club uniform and cap with pride. NEWS2013 METRO CHAMPS PARKINGIf you plan on attending the 2013 Metropolitan Championships, Swimming NSW advises to either catch public transport or pre-book parking by clicking here, due to the V8's being held on the same weekend.

Alternatively spectators can still enter the P2 car park from Olympic Boulevard or Edwin Flack Avenue however there may be limited parking available.

If you are coming from Parramatta Road – turn into Birnie Avenue, go straight into P2 or turn right onto Edwin Flack to head to P3.

If you are coming off the M4 onto Australia Avenue – turn onto Olympic Boulevard or they can go around Sarah Durak Avenue then on Edwin Flack to enter P2.

SWIMMING NSW RULE CHANGESThe Swimming NSW Board have approved changes to the Rules of Swimming in light of recent FINA Rule changes. A copy of the marked up changes with explanations are available for download here.

HAYLEY ANSCHAU

Hayley has represented Blacktown City at Club, MSW Area, Metropolitian, NSW State and at a National level for several years. She has also been a member of the NSW State Team swimming against other State teams from all over Australia. Adding to her list of swimming credits she recently competed at School Sports Australian Championships.

Aaron moved to Blacktown City Swim Club two years ago. Since then he has competed at Club, MSW Area, Metropolitian, NSW State and at a National level representing the club. He has made numerous finals at a State and National level for Blacktown City Swim Club and is continuing to improve under the new coaching staff.

NEW SOCIAL SECRETARYHello everyone, my name is Fiona Crabb and I’m the newest member of the swimming committee and your social secretary for the coming year. You’ve probably seen my face around pool deck. With new faces to committees come new ideas so if you have any ideas or suggestions for sociability or fundraising please don’t be shy in sharing with me in person. With each newsletter I will be aiming to include information about upcoming events (both

social and fundraising) so keep a look out for my little bit  YOUR CHALLENGE:This edition I’m putting the request out for anyone with any connections or businesses that you may know who are looking at some sponsorship or donations that we can use for prizes or raffles (or just advertising in the newsletter, on the club website etc) it may be a simple monetary contribution, a donation of an item or a voucher to use in store.

CLUB PRESENTATIONBlacktown City Swimming Club celebrated their Club Presentation evening on October 11th, 2013. An evening to celebrate and recognise the accomplishments of our Blacktown swimmers over the 2012/2013 swimming season. It was held at a new location - Woodcroft Community Centre. It was a wonderful night filled with a  fabulous BBQ meal, Disco dancing and Award presentations. It was great to have a host of past and present swimmers, coaches and even Blacktown City Councillor - Stephen Bali attend and present our young swimmers with their trophies and awards for all of their accomplishments during Championships and throughout the swimming year.  Well done Blacktown. 

On behalf of the Blacktown City Swimming Club, we would like to extend our Congratulations to all our Award Recipients but especially to all of our swimmers. Each swimmer is a vital part of our Blacktown Swimming Team and always represent our Club with pride and sportsmanship.

We would also like to thank all of our Invited Guests and Presenters for their time to help our swimmers celebrate their achievements. We thank all of our Coaches, Parents and Swimmers for their support throughout the 2012/13 swimming season and look forward to another competitive year of swimming and hard training.
