When Catherine Davis got up to give her inspirationalmessage at the September meeting, she didn’t even have to open her mouth. Standing tall with just a walker for a little support, we were alluplifted and our faith renewed. Her comeback from a life-threateningstroke is so awe-inspiring, that words really were not necessary!

The drama that unfolded this summer through her husbandGeorge’s eloquent emails kept us informed of each up and down.Sometimes heart-wrenching to read and sometimes exciting enough tomake us shout, they were always filled with George’s wonderful faith, devotion to Catherine, and unflappable humor. Each of us wastouched by their experience and realized that in every situation, nomatter how grim at first, there is hope.

Best wishes for continued recovery and good health, Catherine.God must have big plans for you to have worked this wonderfulmiracle.

In case you missed it, one of our special members, LucilleRochs, marked a milestone 95th birthday this past June, partyingwith a few (hundred) friends and family at the Golden HubCenter. Lucille was radiant, as usual, complete with her goldencrown! She is shown in the picture at the left with her “humbleservant” state representative Doug Miller. With her vast history of service in education, city government, rural hospital associations, and everything else, she was recognized by city, state, andnational government representatives on her special day.

But, just because she is a measly 95 years old, don’texpect her to slow down too much. She is still making her usualrounds of meetings in Fredericksburg, Austin, San Antonio andwherever she is called to serve including the Area VI workshop inSeptember. Lucille, you are our role model! We wish you manymore happy birthdays to come!
