Set within 55 acres of parkland overlooking the River Nedern, Caldicot Castle is an ideal setting for your private party. A little bit of History…

Caldicot Castle was first built as a fortress in the Norman times. In the 14th Century it passed from the De Bohn family to the Woodstock’s who were next in line. It was then that the Woodstock family converted the castle from a fortress into a sumptuous residence worthy of their status.

In 1855 Joseph Cobb purchased the castle and returned it to its former medieval grandeur. The Great Gatehouse was fully restored and both of your ceremony rooms are within this grand two-story part of the Castle.

Room Hire within the Great Gatehouse There are three rooms available to hire for civil ceremonies & civil

partnerships at Caldicot Castle.

The Solar Room The Solar Room can provide an intimate space for a private reception or meal. It can also be used for the buffet area when linked to the Banqueting Hall. The Solar Room can seat up to 15 people around one large table. The Guard Room

The Guard Room makes a lovely atmospheric space for a drinks reception or private meal. We can light a roaring fire in the wood burning stove. This room is at ground floor level with no steps. It can seat 30 people around one table. It also makes a good dancing space, with a raised area for the band/disco. The Banqueting Hall

The Banqueting Hall is perfect for a larger event but equally is suited for a smaller gathering. The Banqueting Hall can comfortably seat 80 people, but we have managed to get up to 96 in by using the window seats! The Solar Room and the Banqueting hall can only be accessed by a staircase, unfortunately resulting in no disabled access.

Catering

We do not have in-house caterers except for banquets. We have several caterers who we use regularly that we

would be more than happy to recommend. We do however welcome a caterer of your choice,

subject to the necessary H&S checks.

Unfortunately due to the nature of Caldicot Castle we cannot provide overnight accommodation for your event. However we would be happy to provide a list of

local hotels and B&B’s. Please be advised there is a no smoking policy inside the Castle walls.
