Yoga is always inspired by a master who is called Guru. Guru is a Sanskrit word for dispeller of darkness. The Guru is the principle and energy source which brings

light into the life of a disciple. Thousands of Yoga Gurus have guided and helped mankind for thousands of years. The ultimate Guru is the Parabrahman, the supreme consciousness or eternal consciousness. Various paths lead to the ultimate experience of supreme guidance and inspiration of many Yoga Gurus who have raised their human consciousness to the supreme level and helped the mankind to raise to the level of awareness to bring light into their life.

Veda and Tantra are the basic philosophies and systems that have given rise to various schools of thoughts and traditions. These schools include Samkhya, Vedanta, Advaita Vedanta, Vishishthadvaita, Yoga Darshan, Buddhism, Jainism, Vaisheshik, Uttar mimamsa, Saivism, Shakta and many others. Many types of Yoga came from these various paths, mainly from Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga of Bhagvada Gita, Jnana Yoga, Ashtanga yoga and Hatha Yoga.

Cover STORY The recent history of Yoga can be traced to Patanjali (500 BC), Adi Shankaracharya (8th century AD), Matsyendranath and Gorakshanath (6 to 8 century AD). The Yoga movements are inspired and guided by many saints and sages during this time.

Yoga can be defined as perfect movements. This includes all the parts of the body, through various requirements of movements. It can be classified as, Pre Position, Neck Movement, Shoulder Movement, Hand Movement, Leg Movement, Knee Movement and also the perfect way of breathing. There are several joints in our body, which needs lubrication and movements to work properly. The food we consume supplies the lubrication for our body and Yoga and other activities provide the movements of our body. In our regular life, some of these joints are overused and some are rarely used, which may create problems at a later stage in your life due to wear and tear. To make these joints maintain their healthy condition, basic movements are necessary.

All these years Yoga existed in Hindustan, but the pseudo secular politicians have neglected and ignored whatever is connected to Hinduism. India got independence in the year 1947, but none of the governments gave importance to Yoga fearing the vote banks. United Nations (UN) came into existence on 24 October 1945, but till now the so called secular governments have not taken any steps to showcase the mighty power of the culture and tradition before the world.

ALL OVER THE WORLD YOGA IS A MULTI MILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS. AROUND $27 BILLION IS SPENT

ANNUALLY IN THE US ON YOGA PRODUCTS AND THERE IS 4.8 PER CENT PROJECTED ANNUAL

INCREASE IN THE INDUSTRY REVENUE THROUGH 2017. THERE IS AN 87 PERCENT INCREASE IN

SPENDING ON YOGA PRODUCTS IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS IN THE US ALONE.

Now that, a truly nationalist government head, Prime Minister Shri Narender Damodardas Modi has made India proud by ensuring that the traditions and culture of Hindustan is being prominently showcased internationally. The Indian Prime Minister in his first attendance in the UN General assembly requested for a day for Yoga and ensured that Yoga is being accepted world over and a day for Yoga, 21sy June is being observed world over. It is a proud moment for all the people of Hindustan for Yoga being recognized world over.

Cover STORY

“YOGA IS AN INVALUABLE GIFT OF INDIA’S ANCIENT TRADITION. THIS TRADITION IS 5000 YEARS OLD. IT EMBODIES UNITY OF MIND

AND BODY; THOUGHT AND ACTION; RESTRAINT AND FULFILLMENT; HARMONY BETWEEN MAN AND NATURE, A HOLISTIC APPROACH

TO HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. IT IS NOT ABOUT EXERCISE, BUT TO DISCOVER THE SENSE OF ONENESS WITH YOURSELF, THE WORLD AND THE NATURE. BY CHANGING OUR LIFESTYLE AND CREATING CONSCIOUSNESS, IT CAN HELP US DEAL WITH CLIMATE CHANGE.

LET US WORK TOWARDS ADOPTING AN INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY,”

said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the UN General Assembly.

The first international day of Yoga was observed all over the world on June 21, 2015. About 35985 people, under the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a large number of dignitaries from 84 nations, performed 21 Yoga asanas (postures) for 35 minutes at Rajpath in New Delhi.

“By proclaiming 21 June as the International Day of Yoga, the General Assembly has recognized the holistic benefits of this timeless practice and its inherent compatibility with the principles and values of the United Nations,” Ban Ki-moon, United Nations Secretary-General said.

Two Guinness book records were created on the very first International Yoga Day. In the first category for the largest number of participants in a yoga lesson at a single venue, the record was set with the participation of 35,985 people. In the second category for the most number of nationalities in a yoga performance, to achieve this, participants from at least 50 countries were required to perform, participants from 84 countries performed yoga at Rajpath and set the second record.

The pseudo secular political affiliates tried to create as much controversy on Yoga by terming it as Hindutva and against the Islamic principles. They tried to give a communal colour to Yoga and divide the people of the country, but many Muslim organizations came forward and rejected the so called pseudo secularist attempt to please the vote banks by igniting a communal angle and wholeheartedly participated in the event. Moreover, almost all the Islamic countries took active participation in the International Yoga Day.

Now that the world has recognized the importance of Yoga, there is going to be a huge requirement of Yoga teachers. As promised by Modi during his election tour, here comes a huge job opportunity. This can be utilized by one and all who are interested to take Yoga as their career and to stand healthy.

Let’s usher health for all the people. Let’s be the light for the world. Hindustan has many things to give to the world for the prosperity, peace and health of everyone.
